Preface The PinPoint Asset Tracking and Management Solution uses the PinPoint Asset tag to provide real-time locating and asset management throughout a facility. The PinPoint Mobile Resource Management software enables users to configure tags, manage assets, and track equipment from any web enabled PC or PDA. Refer to the PinPoint Asset Tracking and Management Solutions Software and Configuration Guide for details on tag configuration and the Mobile Resource Management software. Intended Audience The PinPoint Asset Tracking Tag User Guide is intended for facility personnel who uses the PinPoint Asset Tag. It provides detailed information about the tag mounting and cleaning instructions, as well as specifications and compliances. PinPoint Asset Tag The PinPoint Asset Tag is a lightweight battery powered Wi-Fi tag. It is designed to last for up to 3 years depending on the check-in configuration and the motion of the tag. The tag employs an on-board motion detector to maximize battery life. The PinPoint Asset Tag transmits low battery alerts to enable timely tag replacement. The PinPoint Asset Tag is part of the PinPoint Asset Tracking and Management Solutions. The tag aids in locating and securing mobile assets and incorporates tamper detection technology that alerts system users when a tag has been removed from an asset. Mounting Tags Tags are small and can be attached to assets using the adhesive tape that can be purchased with the tags. Tags can also be mounted with a lanyard or zip tie through the opening at the top of the tag. To apply the adhesive pad to the tag 1. Remove an adhesive pad from the strip of paper. 2. Place the tag face down. 3. Line the adhesive pad up with the back of the tag. 4. Apply the adhesive pad. 5. Verify that the pad is applied correctly and is not hanging over the sides of the tag. 6. If correctly applied the tag will activate and auto enroll into the Mobile Resource Management software. Refer to the PinPoint Asset Tracking and Management Solutions Configuration and Calibrations User Guide To attach a tag to a asset using an adhesive pad 1. Obtain the asset to which you want to apply the tag. The asset surface must be clean, dry and free of condensed moisture. 2. Remove the plastic covering from the outside of the adhesive pad. 3. Firmly attach the tag to the asset. Ideal application temperature range is 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C). 4. Press firmly and hold for approximately 10 seconds to activate the pressure sensitive adhesive. 5. After application, the bond strength will increase as the adhesive flows onto the surface. At room temperature, approximately 50% of ultimate bond strength will be achieved after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours. Mounting Tags Using a Lanyard or Zip Tie Tags can also be mounted with a lanyard or zip tie through the opening at the top of the tag. Cleaning Tags To clean a tag after use 1. If necessary, remove the tag from the asset. You can clean the tag on the asset if you prefer. 2. Wet a cotton swab or paper towel with Isopropyl Alcohol. 3. Cleanse the tag. 4. Cleanse the surface of the asset. 5. Let the tag and the asset surface dry before reapplying the tag with a new adhesive pad. Specifications WARNING: The PinPoint Asset Tracking and Management Solutions is designed and intended to work in conjunction with a facility’s overall asset management and security program, including reasonable operating policies and procedures. DUTY CYCLE INFORMATION The Wi-Fi Tag has no pushbutton and the firmware ensures that it can only be on the maximum of 4.4ms in rare circumstances. Typically the packets will be much less than the maximum stated and they never transmit these packets faster than 5 seconds. A typical scenario would be a packet smaller than the maximum possible packet every few minutes. The power density, S, generated by some value of EIRP at a given distance, d, is related by the following: S = EIRP / (4*pi*d^2) The distance, given a maximum EIRP of 22.67dBm (185mW), at which the radiated power density of the EUT is equal to the human RF exposure limit is 2.96cm from the antenna. Normally the device would transmit a short burst every few minutes. The worst case burst length is roughly 4.4ms. For the duty cycle test, the EUT was configured to transmit this worst case packet every 100ms for ease of testing. Therefore, the correction factor should be roughly 27dB. Given a max output power of 22.67dBm, the output power would be average -5.23dBm (0.3mW). The EUT should therefore be exempt from SAR evaluation due to the fact that the output power is below 24.37mW threshold after duty cycle adjustment. We would like it to be considered a portable device so that down the road we could use the system for people location. Initially, we are not going to support location of people because it is much more difficult to do so accurately, but we would like the ability to do so in the future. Regards, Gregg Haensgen

DUTY CYCLE INFORMATION The Wi-Fi Tag has no pushbutton and the firmware ensures that it can only be on the maximum of 4.25ms in rare circumstances. The RF Technologies, Inc proprietary firmware and configuration software tool ensures that the worse case timing mentioned above cannot and will not be configured any faster and these parameters cannot be changed. Typically the packet size will be much less than the maximum stated (4.25ms) and they never transmit these maximum sized position packets faster than 5 seconds. A typical scenario would be a packet smaller than the maximum possible packet every few minutes. The power density, S, generated by some value of EIRP at a given distance, d, is related by the following: S = EIRP / (4*pi*d^2) The distance, given a maximum EIRP of 22 dBm (158 mW), at which the radiated power density of the EUT is equal to the human RF exposure limit is 2.96 cm from the antenna. Normally the device would transmit a short burst every few minutes. The worst case burst length is roughly 4.25ms. For the duty cycle test, the EUT was configured to transmit this worst case packet every 100ms for ease of testing. Therefore, the correction factor should be roughly 13.72 dB. Given a max output power of 22 dBm, the output power would be roughly 8.28 dBm (6.73mW). The EUT should therefore be exempt from SAR evaluation due to the fact that the output power is below 25mW after duty cycle adjustment. We would like it to be considered a portable device so that down the road we could use the system for people location. Initially, we are not going to support location of people, because it is much more difficult to do so accurately, but we would like the ability to do so in the future.
