Users Manual

The device under test is manufactured by the grantee (Delphi Electronics & Safety), and sold as an OEM product. Per 47 CFR 2.909, 2.927, 2.931, 2.1033, 15.15(b) etc..., the grantee must ensure the end-user has all applicable / appropriate operating instructions. When end-user instructions are required, as in the case of this product, the grantee must notify the OEM to notify the end-user. Delphi Electronics & Safety will supply this document to the reseller/distributor dictating what must be included in the end user’s manual for the commercial product. Information to be included IN the end USER'S MANUAL The following information (in blue) must be included in the end product user’s manual to ensure continued FCC and Industry Canada regulatory compliance. The ID numbers must be included in the manual if the device label is not readily accessible to the end user. Operational Description

MY16 Harley-Davidson FOB Description of Operation File: MY16 HD FOB Description of Operation 4-8-15.docx R. Ottem The Model Year 2016 Harley-Davidson FOB has two modes of operation, Passive Authentication and Remote Feature Activation. Passive Authentication communication shall be initiated by a 125 KHz LF uplink from the Harley Body Control Module (BCM). Remote Feature Activation shall be initiated by a button(s) on the FOB. Passive Mode Authentication a. The FOB shall receive a LF uplink signal from the BCM. b. The FOB will wake up if the uplink signal data matches the data in the FOB device. c. The FOB will check the challenge data on the uplink and send back a UHF response to the BCM if the data matches the data stored in the FOB. Remote Feature Activation (Button Versions Only) a. The FOB shall wake up when button activation is detected. b. Once awake the FOB will send encrypted messages to the BCM over the UHF downlink as long as the button is depressed but limited to 5 seconds.
