Congratulations!You have purchased a 5.8GHz Digital Cordless Telephone with Type II Call Waiting Caller ID that has been manufactured to the highest standards of SOUTHWESTERN BELL FREEDOM PHONERetail Sales. BEFORE INSTALLING AND OPERATING THIS TELEPHONE, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS OWNER'S MANUAL. Prepare By: Dreamis So P.3 2/13/04 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING YOUR TELEPHONE EQUIPMENT, BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK AND INJURY TO PERSONS, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING: 1. Read and understand all instructions. 2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product. 3. Unplug this product from the wall telephone jack and power outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. 4. Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bathtub, washbasin, kitchen sink, laundry tub, swimming pool, or in a wet basement. 5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand or table. The product may fall, causing serious damage. 6. Replace battery pack only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions. Safety Instructions for Batteries Handset Battery Pack CAUTION: Use only a Southwestern Bell Freedom Phone approved battery pack in the handset of your GH5811 Cordless Telephone. To reduce the risk of fire or injury, always do the following when replacing, discarding or charging batteries. a. When handling the batteries, be careful not to short circuit the battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets, and keys. The battery or conducting material may overheat and cause burns. b. Use only the following type and size batteries in the cordless phone: c. Self-contained 3-cell Nickel-Metal-hydride rechargeable battery supply, AAL 9V 700mAh. Do not dispose of the battery pack in a fire. The cell may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. c. Do not attempt to open or mutilate the battery pack. The chemicals are dangerous and may cause damage to the eyes or skin, and may be toxic if swallowed. d. Follow the charge instructions outlined in this manual. Use only the following type and size battery in the base unit: 9V (1604) Alkaline Battery. 3. Do not dispose of the battery (ies) in a fire. The cell may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. 4. Do not open or mutilate the battery (ies). Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed. 5. Handle batteries carefully in order to prevent short-circuiting the battery with conducting material such as rings, bracelets, and keys. An applicable certification jacks Universal Service Order Codes (USOC) for the equipment is provided (i.e.., RJ11C) in the packaging with each piece of approved terminal equipment. Warning: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. NOTICE: If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure the installation if this [equipment ID] does not disable your alarm equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment, consult your telephone company or a qualified installer. NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. Operational Description

Digital Security coding system GH5811’s handset and Base is pre-registered with 20bits for handset and 17bits for base unit identification digital security codes, which are stored into the non-volatile memory. This is fulfilling the FCC Part 15.214(d) requirement that there must be at least 256 discrete digital codes. Moreover, the identification digital security codes and handset’s numbers of handset is factory-exchanged to the Base and vice versa, before having packed to the gift-box.
