The Installation of RRFCS 1. Installation of RRFCS into the copying machine 1.1.RRFCS-T RRFCS-T is the TAG and is installed on the CRU – a toner bottle . An introduction example is shown in the following. 1-1 RRFCS-C RRFCS-C is the Coupler and is mounted to the “LB” which is inside the machine Pictures are shown below. 1-2 A process to exchange -The power supply of the machine is turned off. -The outer cover is opened. -The toner bottle is removed -The RRFCS-C is removed. Toner bottles Copying machine Fig.A-1: Attached position of RRFCS -C to machine Fig.A-2: Attached position of RRFCS -T to toner bottle Front Cover LB RRFCS-T Toner Bottle 2. Recommended Actions (example) 2.1. At machine Power-ON (a single attempt is made to communicate with the RRFCS-T) -RF-ON time – after power on = 30 – 90 seconds -Initialization / Access time (RRFCS-T not in range) = .5 seconds -Initialization / Access time (RRFCS-T in range same bottle) = < 1 second -Initialization / Access time (RRFCS-T in range different bottle) = 2 to 3 seconds -RF-OFF time – After Initialization / Access time RF is turned off. 2.2. At the machine working Access interval = Dependent on print coverage area. Typical coverage is 6%. -Typical Access Interval = 125 seconds -RF-ON time = On as bottle is rotating typically 30 seconds - Typical Access time = < 1 second -RF-OFF time = When bottle is stopped or access time is complete. 1.3. At the machine waiting/standby Access interval = only when a bottle is installed. -Initialization / Access time = See times stated in section 2.1. -RF-ON time = RF is turned on when the outer door closes. It is on for up to 10 seconds (time-out) attempting to Initialize / Access if no bottle is installed. -RF-OFF time = Follows time-out or initialization / access time REGULATORY INFORMATION FCC PART 15 COMPLIANCE THIS DEVICE COMPLIES WITH PART 15 OF THE FCC RULES. OPERATION IS SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING TWO CONDITIONS: (1) THIS DEVICE MAY NOT CAUSE HARMFUL INTERFERENCE, AND (2) THIS DEVICE MUST ACCEPT ANY INTERFERENCE RECEIVED, INCLUDING INTERFERENCE THAT MAY CAUSE UNDESIRED OPERATION. MODIFICATIONS TO THE EQUIPMENT NOT EXPRESSLY APPROVED BY XEROX COULD VOID THE USER’S AUTHORITY TO OPERATE THE EQUIPMENT. ANY HOST DEVICE THAT CONTAINS THIS MODULE IS REQUIRED TO CLEARLY STATE THE FOLLOWING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOST DEVICE: “CONTAINS FCC ID: LD7TLST”

Correspondence Summary Q & A November 17, 2005 SUBJECT: XEROX CORPORATION - FCC ID: JD7TLST 1. Question about additional justification needed for Modular approval - RF shield requirement of item 1 of DA001407. Answer: The module complies with the radiated emissions requirements for the applicable rule parts in its current state. Additional shielding to satisfy these requirements is not necessary. Furthermore, this particular module has a specific installation configuration. The module will be attached to the metal L-bracket as shown in the operational description. The purpose of the module will be to exchange information with the toner bottle inside a copier or printer. As a result the side of the module not facing the L- bracket will be facing the toner cartridge. The typical implementation of this module will be such that there no cables directly over or under the module that may be coupled to. Please reference the user manual to see the typical installation of the module. Additionally, the relatively low power intentionally radiated by the equipment should also help to reduce the probability of unintended coupling within host devices. TIMCO ENGINEERING, INC. 849 N.W. State Road 45 P.O. Box 370 Newberry, Florida 32669 Date: October 26, 2005 RE: FCC ID: LD7TLST Dear Reviewer: The following items are intended to show compliance with the requirements for a Part 15 modular transmitter approval for the 13.56 MHz transmitter under consideration in this filing. 1. The modular transmitter will be shielded inside the host units. Since this unit will be installed in Xerox printers control of this shielding will be maintained by the grant holder. Please reference the operational description to see the shielding plate the module will be attached to and the normal position inside the host during a typical installation. 2. The modular transmitter only has data inputs inductively coupled via the toner cartridge tag assembly. This will ensure that no conditions of excessive data rates or over-modulation can occur. 3. The modular transmitter receives its DC power from a regulated supply from within the host and has an on board regulator as well. 4. The transmitter has an integral antenna. 5. The transmitter was tested in a stand-alone configuration. 6. The transmitter is labeled with its own FCC ID. The users manual contains instructions for host unit exterior labeling to use: “Contains FCC ID:” 7. The transmitter complies with all operating requirements applicable to the transmitter. 8. The transmitter complies with applicable RF exposure requirements. If there are additional questions please contact SIEMIC Laboratories at 408-526-1188. Sincerely Gary E. Myers Xerox EMC manager
