These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: y Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. y Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. y Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. y Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. CAUTION: Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the grantee of this device could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. FCC RF Radiation Exposure Statement This equipment complies with FCC RF radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and your body. CE Mark Warning This is a Class B product. In a domestic environment, this product may cause radio interference, in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 May 16, 2005 RE: FCC ID: MQ4WAP253_ATCB002422 Attention: Jerry Liu I have a few comments on this Application. Please note that further comments may arise in response to answers provided to the questions below. 1. Please note that the device appears to be sufficiently large to accommodate the 2-condition statement as required by part 15.19. Please provide a label showing the location of this statement on the device. 2. Please note that page 16 of the manual (page 21 of the pdf document) indicates a country selectable parameter. Please note that this is not allowed for devices used in the US. No device used in the US can have any user accessible control which would cause the device to operate on non-US frequencies. Please explain how this feature is disabled for US products and how this device is made so that no non-US frequency can be selected. Dennis Ward mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.

Introduction The EUT operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band. Due to the EUT (include antenna) at its normal operation distance is at least 20 cm from the human body, the EUT was defined as a Mobile Device. The reason to do the MPE Evaluation is to avoid the RF hazard to human body. The maximum output power and gain of the antenna were used to calculate the limited Power density (S) at 20cm distance away from the product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. 2. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b). Limits for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (minutes) (A) Limits for Occupational / Control Exposures 30-300 61.4 0.163 1.0 6 300-1500 - - F/300 6 1500-100,000 - - 5 6 (B) Limits for General Population / Uncontrolled Exposure 30-300 27.5 0.073 0.2 30 300-1500 - - F/1500 30 1500-100,000 - - 1.0 30 F= Frequency in MHz FCC ID. : MQ4WAP253 Report No.: EME-050365 Page 5 of 5 3. RF Exposure calculations From FCC 1.1310 table 1, the maximum permissible RF exposure for an uncontrolled environment is 1mW/(cm 2 ) Power density (S) is calculated by the following formula: S = (P * G)/4πR 2 where, S = Power density (mW/cm 2 ) P = Output power to antenna (mW) R = Distance between radiating structure and observation point (cm) G = Gain of antenna in numeric π = 3.1416 Example: Assume a mobile device operates at 2412MHz and its maximum output power is 50mW, and the maximum gain of antenna is 1 (numeric) /0dBi. then the power density (S) = (50 * 1)/4*π*20 2 = 0.00995 (mW/cm 2 ) 4.
