ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. FCC ID.: MSQ-ASGURUS1 4FL., No. 150, Li-Te Rd., Peitou, Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. . American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 March 15, 2006 RE: ASUSTeK Computer FCC ID: MSQ-ASGURUS1 I have a few comments on this Application. Depending on your responses, kindly understand there may be additional comments. 1.) The radiated band edge plots for this high power WiFi device are of insufficient detail to demonstrate compliance with the band edge – especially on Channel 11. Please provide plots on a 30MHz span centered directly on 2483.5MHz. Kindly show the worst case of all data rates for both 802.11b (DSS) and 802.11g (OFDM) modes. Please do not forget to also show the peak and average radiated values. FYI: My expectation is that with a requested power of over +20dBm, the radiated field strength should be a value in excess of +110dBuV when measured with a peak (1MHz RBW / 1MHz VBW) instrumentation mode. 2.) The SAR report incorrectly identifies one of the applicable standards as RSS-133. Please revise. 3.) Why was body SAR testing was not performed on this device? It appears that this device is small enough to fit in the pocket of the end user – should not logically body SAR testing be accomplished? 4.) FYI: Please remember that the additional of body SAR data will need to be included in the final revisions to the Manual. 5.) Was radiated emissions checked with the earphone cord stretched upwards from the EUT? This would be likely when the device is carried by the end user and potentially would change the radiated emissions significantly. William H. Graff President and Director of Engineering mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Report No. 061L109-RF-US-P05V01 Page: 6 of 64 Version:1.0 1.2. Operational Description The EUT is a WiFi Skype Phone with 11 channels. This device provided four kinds of transmitting speed 1, 2, 5.5 and 11Mbps. The device of RF carrier is DBPSK, DQPSK and CCK (IEEE 802.11b) or eight kinds of transmitting speed 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48 and 54Mbps. The device of RF carrier is OFDM (IEEE 802.11g). The device adapts direct sequence spread spectrum modulation. The antenna was Connector provides diversity function to improve the receiving function. This WiFi Skype Phone , compliant with IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11g, is a high-efficiency Wireless LAN adapter. It allows your computer to connect to a wireless network and to share resources, such as files or printers without being bound to the network wires. Operation in 2.4GHz Direst Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) radio transmission, the WiFi Skype Phone Wired Equivalent Protection (WEP) algorithm is used. In addition, its standard compliance ensures that it can communicate with any IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11g network.
