Limits According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environment impact of human exposure to radio frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b) LIMITS FOR MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (Minutes) (A) Limits for Occupational/ Control Exposures 300-1500 -- -- F/300 6 1500-100,000 -- -- 5 6 (B) Limits for General Population/ Uncontrolled Exposures 300-1500 -- -- F/1500 6 1500-100,000 -- -- 1 30 F= Frequency in MHz Friis Formula Friis transmission formula: Pd = (Pout*G)/(4*pi*r 2 ) Where Pd = power density in mW/cm 2 Pout = output power to antenna in mW G = gain of antenna in linear scale Pi = 3.1416 R = distance between observation point and center of the radiator in cm Pd id the limit of MPE, 1 mW/cm 2 . If we know the maximum gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the distance r where the MPE limit is reached. 1.2. Limits Emissions radiated outside of the specified frequency bands, except for harmonics, shall be attenuated by at least 20dB below the level of the fundamental or to the general radiated emission limits in paragraph 15.209, whichever is the lesser attenuation. 6.4. Test Procedure The EUT was setup according to ANSI C63.4: 2009 and tested according to DTS test procedure of Jan. 2012 KDB558074 for compliance to FCC 47CFR 15.247 requirements. The EUT and its simulators are placed on a turn table which is 0.8 meter above ground. The turn table can rotate 360 degrees to determine the position of the maximum emission level. The EUT was positioned such that the distance from antenna to the EUT was 3 meters. The antenna can move up and down between 1 meter and 4 meters to find out the maximum emission level. Both horizontal and vertical polarization of the antenna are set on measurement. In order to find the maximum emission, all of the interface cables must be manipulated according to ANSI C63.4: 2009 on radiated measurement. 6.5. Test Specification According to FCC Part 15 Subpart C Paragraph 15.247: 2010 6.6. Uncertainty The measurement uncertainty ± 3.9 dB above 1GHz Report No: 122109R-RFUSP42V01 Page: 194 of 322 6.7.
