Statement This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guar- antee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. • Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: • This device may not cause harmful interference, and • This device must accept any interference received including interference that may cause undesired operation. FCC Caution: Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment. ASUS Internet Radio IMPORTANT NOTE: FCC Radiation Exposure Statement This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled enironment. Operational Description

FCC ID: MSQAIR Report No.: RF960531A06 Operational Description This device is an Asus Internet Radio which operates in the 2.4GHz frequency spectrum with throughput of up to 54Mbps which OFDM technique will be applied. If the signal to noise radio is too poor which could not support 54Mbps, the 11Mbps data rate with CCK technique will be applied. The transmitter of the EUT is powered by AC adapter. The antenna is dipole antenna with R-SMA connector. The other instruction, please have a look at the users manual.

RF Exposure Info

Report No: SA960531A06 1 RF EXPOSURE REPORT REPORT NO.: SA960531A06 MODEL NO.: AIR ACCORDING: FCC Guidelines for Human Exposure IEEE C95.1 APPLICANT : ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ADDRESS : NO. 15, LI-TE RD., PEITOU, TAIPEI, TAIWAN, R.O.C. ISSUED BY : Advance Data Technology Corporation LAB ADDRESS : No. 47, 14 th Ling, Chia Pau Tsuen, Linko Hsiang 244, Taipei Hsien, Taiwan, R.O.C. FCC ID: MSQAIR Report No: SA960531A06 2 RF Exposure Measurement (Mobile Device) 1. Introduction In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body for our product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC) calibrated for antenna measurement in ADT, and also the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. Although the Friis transmission formula is a far field assumption, the calculated result of that is an over-prediction for near field power density. We will take that as the worst case to specify the safety range. 2. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b) LIMITS FOR MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (minutes) (A)Limits For Occupational / Control Exposures 300-1500 ... ... F/300 6 1500-100,000 ... ... 5 6 (B)Limits For General Population / Uncontrolled Exposure 300-1500 ... ... F/1500 30 1500-100,000 ... ... 1.0 30 F = Frequency in MHz FCC ID: MSQAIR Report No: SA960531A06 3 3. Friis Formula Friis transmission formula : Pd = (Pout*G) / (4*pi*r 2 ) Where Pd = power density in mW/cm 2 Pout = output power to antenna in mW G = gain of antenna in linear scale Pi = 3.1416 R = distance between observation point and center of the radiator in cm If we know the maximum Gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the MPE value at distancer. Ref.: David K. Cheng, Field and Wave Electromagnetics, Second Edition, Page 640, Eq. (11-133). 4. EUT Operating condition The software provided by Manufacturer enabled the EUT to transmit and receive data at lowest, middle and highest channel individually. 5. Classification The antenna of this product, under normal use condition, is at least 20cm away from the body of the user. Warning statement to the user for keeping at least 20cm or more separation distance with the antenna should be included in user’s manual. So, this device is classified as Mobile Device. FCC ID: MSQAIR Report No: SA960531A06 4 6. Test Results 6.1 Antenna Gain The maximum Gain measured in Fully Anechoic Chamber is 2.28dBi (= 1.69 numeric). 6.2 Output Power Into Antenna & RF Exposure at Distance 20cm: For 802.11b DSSS MODULATION Channel Channel Frequency (MHz) Output Power to Antenna (mW) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Limit of Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) 1 2412 7.379 0.002 1.0 6 2437 7.413 0.002 1.0 11 2462 7.112 0.002 1.0 For 802.11g OFDM MODULATION Channel Channel Frequency (MHz) Output Power to Antenna (mW) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Limit of Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) 1 2412 4.875 0.002 1.0 6 2437 5.984 0.002 1.0 11 2462 4.634 0.002 1.0
