FCC ID: MSQWL230 Dear Bill: After the review of your comments, we have made some response upon your advice; they are summarized as follows: 1. I have segregated the photos into “Internal Photo” and “External Photo”, with the suffix “_2”. 2. The “Block Diagram” is also updated upon your requests, uploaded with the suffix “_2”. 3. The manuals sent before with separate exhibits are a draft one and one of them is about the WLAN and the other is referring to the Bluetooth portion. Anyway, I have combined them together into a single exhibit, uploaded with the suffix “_2”. 4. The regulatory statement about the emission is updated and uploaded. Please find it in the uploaded file. 5. The product is designed only able to work 1-at-a-time. The WLAN and Bluetooth won’t works together in order to comply with known FCC rule. 6. (Still waiting for the manufacturer comment) 7. The metal enclosure is acting only the “weight” of the antenna, for details please find these all with our revised “Internal photo” and “External Photo”. 8. The transmitter is located on the PCI card, the “shark fin” is only the antenna extended from the PCI card. The connector at both the card and the cable is unique and with the “lock-tile” style. It does comply with the requirement of the integral antenna. 9. The label location is shown by our recent uploads about the label format. Please segregate the photographs into two separate Exhibits: “Internal Photographs” and “External Photographs”. This is an FCC requirement. 2.) Please provide a more detailed block diagram which shows the frequency paths of both the Bluetooth transmitter, and 802.11a/b transmitter. 3.) Please describe how the two different manuals [ASUS and WIDCOM] will be utilized. Shouldn’t only one manual apply for this FCC ID? 4.) Page 82 of ASUS manual is incorrect – there should only be the 20cm restriction for Mobile operations. Otherwise a SAR report would be required. 5.) Can only one transmitter be used at a time? If more than one, the MPE estimation should be revised to anticipate the usage of multiple transmitters. 6.) The Subpart E report indicates the temperature stability can be found in the Theory of Operations. No such documentation can be found. 7.) Please indicate what is located inside the metal enclosure within the “shark fin” antenna. Is this a transmitter? Please provide photographs with cover removed. 8.) Where is the Part 15E transmitter located – inside the “shark fin” or on the PCI card? If on the PCI card, how does this comply with the integral antenna requirements of Part 15E? Both ends of the coax between the “shark fin” antenna and the PCI card would have to be permanent? 9.) Where will the label be located? Please provide a drawing. FCC ID: MSQWL230 I have, regrettably, additional comments on this Application. 1.) The revised block diagram uploaded to AmericanTCB is nearly identical to the original. Please look at the file you sent. What I am looking for is a block diagram for the 802.11a/b section, and another for the Bluetooth section which will meet the definition of 2.1033(b)(5). 2.) The Manual on page 82, second and third paragraph, indicates this device was tested for SAR exposure in a laptop computer. This is obviously incorrect. Regardless, the first paragraph on the same page is correct and is sufficient for this device. Please remove the section entitled “SAR Exposure”. 3.) Per your email of January 27, 2003, if both the Bluetooth and 802.11a/b transmitters can operate at the same time, then RF Exposure estimation (MPE) will have to be modified. 4.) Thank you for your confirmation that the connectors will be glued with “LocTite” or similar adhesive compound. Will this be done at the factory or by the consumer?
