HP4890A 900MHz Wireless Headphone User's Manual 1 INTRODUCTION This 900Mhz compact stereo headphone takes advantage of the very latest wireless transmission technology so that you can listen to music or the sound from your TV set any where in the house . All you have to do is connect the transmitter to any audio sour ce: DVD player, CD player, TV set, VCR, Hi-Fi system, MP3, IPod, or radio. FEATURES 1. Auto Scanning system on headphone 2. RF 900 MHz with Phase Lock Loop (PLL) transmission technology. 3. Automatic battery recharging (batteries supplied). 4. RF technology leaves you completely free to move around. 5. Transmission is not restricted solely to line of sight. 6. Charger built into the transmitter and headphone receiver. 7. High quality stereo sound that is virtually interference-free. 8. Automatic Level Control (ALC) and Auto On/Off function. 2 COMPONENT IDENTIFICATION 3 COMPONENT IDENTIFICATION 1 Ear Cushion Holder (Left) 2 Ear Cushion Holder (Right) 3 Volume Control 4 Auto Tuning Button 5 Auto Tuning Indicator 6 Charge Contact (Headphone) 7 Power Indicator 8 Power ON/OFF Switch 9 Charge Indicator 10 Power Indicator 11 Charge Contact (Transmitter) 12 Channel Selector (Channel 1 2 3) 13 Audio Input 14 DC IN 15 Audio Connection Cable with 3.5 mm Jack Plug and RCA Adapter. 16 Power AC/DC Adapter 17 2 Pieces of AAA Rechargeable Batteries INSTALLATION TRANSMITTER 1. Connect the Power Adapter provided to an electrical outlet. 2. Connect the Power Adapter Cable to the DC IN input connector located on the transmitter rear panel. 3. Connect the Audio Input to the Source with the Audio Connection Cable provided. 4 The Power Indicator on the Transmitter glows once the Power Adapter is connected to the mains outlet, and the Audio Input is connected to a signal source, and switched On. If the Power Indicator does not light up, switch On the audio source and increase its sound output level until the Power Indicator glows. RECEIVER HEADPHONE 1. Remove the Left and Right Ear Cushion Holder on the receiver headphone. A battery compartment should be found under the Left and Right Ear Cushion Holder. 2. Insert a rechargeable LR03/AAA size rechargeable batteries (supplied with the product) in both right / left earphone cabinet, and make sure the polarity is correct. (Make sure to use the rechargeable batteries provided with the product as these batteries are designed with side charging contact) 3. Put back the Ear Cushion Holder in original position. 5 OPERATION 1. Switch on the sound source (TV set or audio component) that the transmitter is connected to. 2. Press the “Power ON/OFF” Switch of the Headphone until the Power Indicator glows. 3. Place the headphone on your head and adjust the volume to obtain the desired sound level. 4. If the best reception frequency c annot be obtained, press the "Auto Tuning" button on the Right headphone cabinet. The corresponding indicator will glow. NOTE: You should then be able to move around freely from one room to another without any interference. If interferen ce does occur (interruptions in the signal), press the "Auto Scan" button once to find a better reception channel. A For better stereo reception, stay approximately seven meters away from the transmitter when you press the "Auto Scan" button. B If a satisfactory frequency is not obtained, select other channels among Channel 1, 2 and 3 behind the tr ansmitter, then press the "Auto Scan" button on the headphone to find the corresponding channel. To protect the transmitter and to save power, the transmitter automatically switches off after approximately four mi nutes if the signal that it receives from the audio source is too weak for proper reception. If however the signal returns to an acceptable level, then th e transmitter automatically switches back on. 6 CHARGING THE BATTERIES 1. On the headphone, press the “Power ON/OFF” Switch until the Power Indicator is off. 2. To recharge the headphone batteries, place the headphone on the transmitter, taking care to ensure that the Charge Contacts touch the transmitter's charge prongs. 3. The charge process starts automatic ally and the Charge Indicator glows. Be sure to charge new batteries for 24 hours before using them for the first time in the headphone. WARNING: Never attempt to recharge conventional dry cells. Use the rechargeable batteries supplied with the product as these batteries are specially designed with side charging contact. Never use another type of battery or non-rechargeable batteries to replace the rechargeable (LR03/AAA) batteri es supplied. When the headphone are not in use, switch Off the headphone to avoid damaging the batteries. The batteries must always be fully charged before use. An initial 24 hour charge is required to guarantee an acceptable service life for the rechargeable batteries. Always ensure that the headphone are switched to the Off position while the batteries are charging. IMPORTANT: This unit should be operated with rechargeable batteries only. When replacing the batteries or when disposing of the unit, always comply with applicable laws relating to the disposal of batteries. Please place them in a 7 proper disposal container to ensure that they are eliminated safely and in an environmentally-friendly way. Thank you. Only use rechargeable batteries of the type specified under the “Technical specifications” heading. The rechargeable batteries supplied with the headphone must absolutely not be taken apart, disposed of in an open fire or short circuited.
