FIRMWARE_A(VER 0.01) 1. Preface This document describes the requirements and operation of the Passive Entry System. However, this document is especially for the Entry system ECU (acronym for Electric Control Unit) and the FOB. The FOB consists the following functionality for passive access and active access: β€’ Door unlocking / locking (however, only for request by means of switch operation) β€’ Trunk unlocking / locking (however, only for request by means of switch operation) β€’ LF decoding β€’ RF encoding β€’ Communication data encryption (cryptograph, anti-collision, rolling code and stuff) And the entry system ECU consists of the following functionality: β€’ Door unlocking / locking β€’ Trunk unlocking / locking β€’ Engine start (/ stop) β€’ LF encoding β€’ RF encoding β€’ Communication data encryption (cryptograph, anti-collision, rolling code and stuff) β€’ LF antenna unit control β€’ Communication with the node ECUs connected to the body bus (e.g. CAN, J1850, customer dependent bus) As a further function, both the FOB and the entry system ECU provides the following function: β€’ Learning mode for programming the manufacturing data and stuff β€’ Data locking and password protection β€’ Diagnostic (based upon ISO9141 if required) Document No. Title Page 5AX000XX00 Product Specification Background Passive Entry System FORMAT NO. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 January 24, 2003 RE: TOHOKU ALPS CO., LTD. FCC ID: NHVWBJ441 After a review of the submitted information, I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. 1) Page 7 of 8 of the operational description mentions 16 seconds due to manual press of the switch. It is unclear what the 16 seconds refers to. Note that the device must stop transmitting in less than 5 seconds after released (15.231(a)(1)). Please provide a better explanation of what the16 seconds refers to. Additionally, please confirm how fast the device deactivates after being released. 2) The test report shows an automatic deactivation. However it can not be determined if the pulse provided is a single packet of data or the end of transmission. Please provide an additional plot that shows the deactivation over 5 seconds or more. 3) This device appears to automatically transmit due to various commands received via 125 kHz LF. However, there is not information regarding what is transmitted by the 312 MHz TX in response to the 125 kHz signal. Please provide a detailed explanation of the data sent by the 312 MHz TX in response to the 125 kHz transmission. Is the data sent equivalent to the data sent during manual activation? Additionally, how long does the device transmit upon receiving a command? Note that the device must stop transmitting in less than 5 seconds after automatically being activated (15.231(a)(2)). 4) Please provide a better explanation of what the rolling code is. Note that since the code is not set, it could be considered data. Please provide a detailed explanation of what this is. 5) The schematics is unclear, please provide higher resolution schematic. It also appears that the schematic does not contain any values but only reference designators. Please note that the schematic must contain physical values. 6) The 731 form section III, 7 mentions this is part of a system that operates with another device, therefore, please fill out section 8. Timothy R. Johnson Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Dear Tim, Thank you very much for your contact on the above application. I make a reply as follow: 1. As you can see on the timing chart, "16 seconds" mean that the transmission is stopped in 16 seconds maximum when Switch is kept pushing. When the user release his hand, transmission is stopped within "0.5 seconds" after he released his hand. 2. Please see the file "page 16 REVISED". We add the data for 10 seconds on automatic deactivation. Please replace the previous Page 16 with this. 3. As for the explanation for the data sent by the 312 MHz Tx in response to the 125kHz transmission, please see the file "RF response". >Is the data sent equivalent to the data sent during manual activation? --->> Basically, it's equivalent. During the button is pushed, same data is continuously transmitted. >How long does the device transmit upon receiving the command? --->> About 50mS transmission. The longest data transmission is less than 50mS. 4. Please see the last page of the file "RF response". To improve the security, the counter comprising of 20 bits is incremental by one at each LF transmission. This bit code indicates "Rolling code" 5. Please see the file "SystemBlock" and "Revised Schematics". Are these files acceptable? 6. Please see the file "Revised Form 731".
