American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 October 1, 2001 RE: Akoo, Inc FCC ID: O5UFMLINK I have the following comments on this Application 1.) The FCC has ruled that Internal Photographs do not qualify for Confidentiality status. Please submit a revised Confidentiality letter. 2.) Has this equipment been tested in three orthogonal planes as required by ANSI C63.4? If so, it should state so plainly in the test procedure. 3.) Occupied bandwidth was taken with only a 1000 Hz tone. Since this is a broadband analog audio device, it is prudent to show Occupied Bandwidth at either the frequency of maximum response or 15 KHz, whichever comes first. The amplitude specified by the manufacturer is satisfactory. 4.) Test Setup photos appear to show equipment set up on a plywood tabletop on top of an industrial metal cart. If this is incorrect, please explain. William H. Graff Examining Engineer President and Director of Engineering mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Thanks and Best Regards, Clifton P. Brick 1.) The FCC has ruled that Internal Photographs do not qualify for Confidentiality status. Please submit a revised Confidentiality letter. Please find, uploaded as a separate file, the modified confidentiality letter and corrected Internal Photographs exhibit. 2.) Has this equipment been tested in three orthogonal planes as required by ANSI C63.4? If so, it should state so plainly in the test procedure. Yes, the equipment was examined in three orthogonal planes, worst case is as shown in the setup photos. Occupied bandwidth was examined up to 15 kHz, the 1kHz point was determined to be the largest bandwidth based on the normal output response of an audio source. 4.) Test Setup photos appear to show equipment set up on a plywood tabletop on top of an industrial metal cart. If this is incorrect, please explain. This is incorrect; the cart shown is a Rubbermaid brand plastic cart.

Radiated test procedure: The EUT, associated cables and peripheral devices are placed on the supporting table and any support equipment is placed off the site. The EUT is turned on and any necessary operating or test software installed and allowed to warm up. The EUT is pre-scanned in our ferrite tile lined chamber where it is rotated 360 degrees and examined in both horizontal and vertical polarization, all emission frequencies are identified and recorded. The EUT is then moved to the OATS and the frequency band from 30 MHz to 40 GHz is scanned, all frequencies identified in the chamber are investigated, as well as harmonic frequencies of the EUT. When an emission is found the emission is maximized by varying the bundle position of the connecting cables, the antenna height, the antenna polarization (vertical and horizontal) and the table orientation (360 degrees). The maximum reading is recorded and the next signal is searched for. Conducted test procedure: The power line of the EUT is connected to the LISN (Line Impedance Stabilization Network). A measurement of the emissions are made from the power line for both phase and neutral on the analyzer in the frequency range from 450 kHz to 30 MHz. The maximum readings are recorded for each phase. All measurements are made according to the procedures defined in: "ANSI C63.4-1992 Standard Methods of Measurement of Radio Noise Emissions from Low-Voltage Electrical and Electronics Equipment in the Range of 9 kHz to 40 GHz, American National Standard for (ISBN 1- 55937-215-5).
