TV Box Important Product Information Guide © 2012 DRAFT v0.1 - CONFIDENTIAL3/30/12 This guide contains safety, handling, disposal, recycling and regulatory information. To avoid injury to people or equipment, carefully read all safety information and operation instructions contained in this guide before using your device. Important Safety and Handling Information Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, or other injury or damage to the device or other property. LOCATION ● Place the TV Box indoors to avoid exposure to lightning, rain, or sun. Do not place it near a radiator, a heat register, or an open window. ● Maintain at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clearance between the TV Box and any other appliances susceptible to electromagnetic influences, such as a TV or a VCR. However, electronic devices that are not affected by electromagnetic influences can be located closer to the device. ● If you place the TV Box on a rack or a bookcase, make sure that there is adequate ventilation and that you have followed the manufacturer’s instructions for mounting. ● Do not place the TV Box on an unstable surface where it can fall. If the TV Box falls, it can cause serious injury to a person and serious damage to the device. ● If you have a Fat TV Box device, be sure it is not subjected to vibration, which could cause data loss. VENTILATION ● Make sure that the slots on bottom of the TV Box are not blocked. Sufficient airflow around the device is required for proper operation. ● Do not expose the TV Box to an exposed flame. ● Operate the device in a location where the temperature is between 0º and 40 C (32º to 104º F). POWER SUPPLY ● Operate the TV Box using only the type of power supply specified on the label. If you do not know the type of power supplied to your home, contact your local power company. ● Disconnect the power supply before you start any maintenance or installation procedures. ● The TV Box has no on/off switch. To disconnect the device from power, you must disconnect the power cord. Make sure the power cord is always easily accessible. ● When connecting or disconnecting the TV Box , always hold the plug by its sides. Keep fingers away from the metal part of the plug. OVERLOADING ● Make sure that the wall outlet, extension cord, and adapter have a sufficient power rating for the TV Box . If not, this can cause an electric fire shock. CONNECTION TO THE TV © 2012DRAFT v0.1 - CONFIDENTIAL3/30/12 ● Disconnect the power supply before you connect or disconnect the cable from the TV to avoid causing damage to the TV. ATTACHMENTS ● Do not use any unsupported attachments, as these may be hazardous or cause damage to the TV Box . ● Do not move the TV Box if another device, such as a TV, computer, or other electronic device, is connected to it. WATER, LIQUIDS, WET LOCATIONS ● Do not expose the TV Box to rain, liquids, or moisture. ● Do not put any objects filled with liquid, such as vase, on the TV Box . ● Do not use the TV Box outdoors. It is meant for indoor use only. LIGHTNING, STORM, OR NOT IN USE ● During a thunderstorm or when left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug the TV Box from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna. This prevents damage to the device from lightning and power surges. CLEANING ● Disconnect the TV Box from the wall outlet before you clean it. ● Use a moist cloth to clean the TV Box . Do not use solvents. EXTRANEOUS OBJECTS ● Do not insert anything through the openings in the TV Box , where they can touch dangerous voltage points or damage parts. REPLACEMENT OF PARTS ● When replacement of parts is required, be sure the service technician uses replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or those that have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitution can result in damage to the TV Box . Repairing or Modifying the Device Do not attempt to open the TV Box or disassemble it. Opening the device can cause electric shock and voids the limited warranty. No user-serviceable parts are inside. Service should be provided by an authorized service provider only. If the TV Box has been in contact with liquids, punctured, or subjected to a severe fall, unplug it and have it checked out by an authorized service provider before using it. Handling The TV Box can be damaged by improper storage or handling. Be careful not to drop the device when transporting it. © 2012DRAFT v0.1 - CONFIDENTIAL3/30/12 Choking Hazard The TV Box contains small parts, which could present a choking hazard to small children. Keep the TV Box and its accessories away from small children. Connectors and Ports Never force a connector into a port. Check for obstructions on the port. If the connector and port do not join with reasonable ease, they probably do not match. Make sure that the connector matches the port and that you position the connector correctly before inserting it into the port. Exposure to Radio Frequency Energy The TV Box contains radio transmitters and receivers. When the device is on, it sends and receives radio frequency (RF) energy through its antenna. The device is designed, tested 1 , and manufactured to comply with the limits for exposure to RF energy set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States. If you are concerned about exposure to RF energy, you can further limit your exposure by turning off the Wi-fi and Bluetooth functions. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20 centimeters between the radiator and your body. Additional Information For more information from the FCC about exposure to RF energy, go to www.fcc.gov/oet/ rfsafety. The FCC and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also maintain a consumer website at www.fda.gov/RadiationEmittingProducts/RadiationEmittingProductsandProcedures/ HomeBusinessandEntertainment/CellPhones/default.htm to address inquiries about the safety of mobile phones.
