You will be able to enjoy the freedom that wireless networking brings. A WLAN is a cellular computer network that transmits and receives data with radio signals instead of wires. WLANs are used increasingly in both home and office environments, and public areas such as airports, coffee shops and universities. Innovative ways to utilize WLAN technology are helping people to work and communicate more efficiently. Increased mobility and the absence of cabling and other fixed infrastructure have proven to be beneficial for many users. Wireless users can use the same applications they use on a wired network. Wireless adapter cards used on laptop and desktop systems support the same protocols as Ethernet adapter cards. Wireless Basics Features Link/Activity LED Power - Indicates that the GL2422MU-MT is properly installed in the computer. Link - Blinks when data is being transmitted through the wireless connection. Antenna Used to wirelessly connect to 802.11b networks Mini-USB port Used to connect the GL2422MU-MT to your computer Wireless Basics (continued) People use wireless LAN technology for many different purposes: Mobility - Productivity increases when people have access to data in any location within the operating range of the WLAN. Management decisions based on real-time information can significantly improve worker efficiency. Low Implementation Costs . WLANs are easy to set up, manage, change and relocate. Networks that frequently change can benefit from WLANs ease of implementation. WLANs can operate in locations where installation of wiring may be impractical. Installation and Network Expansion - Installing a WLAN system can be fast and easy and can eliminate the need to pull cable through walls and ceilings. Wireless technology allows the network to go where wires cannot go - even outside the home or office. Scalability . WLANs can be configured in a variety of topologies to meet the needs of specific applications and installations. Configurations are easily changed and range from peer-to-peer networks suitable for a small number of users to larger infrastructure networks to accommodate hundreds or thousands of users, depending on the number of wireless devices deployed. Inexpensive Solution - Wireless network devices are as competitively priced as conventional Ethernet network devices. Standards-Based Technology Based on the IEEE 802.11b standard, the GL2422MU-MT is interoperable with existing compatible 2.4GHz wireless technology with data transfer speeds of up to 22Mbps when used with other devices. Wireless Basics (continued) Installation Considerations The GL2422MU-MT lets you …

Operational Description

FCC ID: O7J-GL2422MU-MT ADT No.920314R03 Operational Description The transmitter of the EUT is powered by host equipment from USB port. The antenna is Dipole Antenna with MMCX connector. Under normal use condition, the user has to keep at least 20cm separation distance between radiator and the body of the user. The other instruction, please have a look at the users manual. DSSS Information This device is Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum, the data is mixed by pseudorandom code which is an orthogonal code. The mixed data is digital modulated by BPSK and QPSK technique depends on the data rates. The CCK coding is applied for increasing the data rate. The bit rates are 1,2,5.5,11,22Mbps, the symbol rates are 1,1,1.375,1.375,1.375 Mbps, the chip rates are always 11Mbps. So, the Chip/symbol is 11,11,8,8,and16 respectively. Although is higher bit rate, the processing gain is lower than 10, but the CCK coding used in higher bit rate will provide 2.2dB coding gain.

FCC ID: O7J-GL2422MU-MT ADT No.: 920314R03 RF EXPOSURE REPORT REPORT NO.: RF920314R03 MODEL NO.: GL2422MU-MT ACCORDING: FCC Guidelines for Human Exposure IEEE C95.1 APPLICANT: GLOBAL SUN TECHNOLOGY, INC. ADDRESS: No. 13, Tung Yuan Rd., Jung Li Industrial Park, Jung Li City, Tao Yuan Hsien, Taiwan, R.O.C. ISSUED BY: Advance Data Technology Corporation LAB LOCATION: 47 14th Lin, Chiapau Tsun, Linko, Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. 0528 ILAC MRA Lab Code: 200102-0 FCC ID: O7J-GL2422MU-MT ADT No.: 920314R03 RF Exposure Measurement (Mobile Device) 1. Introduction 2.4GHz frequency band is regarded specially as a dangerous band for its heating harmfulness to the human body. That’s why microwave oven is operating in this frequency band. The manufacturer whose product is working in this frequency band is obligatory to prove the harmfulness of his product. In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body for our product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC), and the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. 2. Classification The antenna of the product, under normal use condition, is at least 20cm away from the body of the user. Warning statement for keeping 20cm separation distance and the prohibition of operating next to a person has been printed on the user’s manual. So, this product is classified as the Mobile Device. 3. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b). FCC ID: O7J-GL2422MU-MT ADT No.: 920314R03 LIMITS FOR MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (minutes) (A)Limits For Occupational / Control Exposures 30-30061.40.1631.06 300-1500......F/3006 1500-100,000......56 (B)Limits For General Population / Uncontrolled Exposure 30-30027.50.0730.230 300-1500......F/150030 1500-100,000......1.030 F = Frequency in MHz 4. Friis Formula Friis transmission formula : Pd = (Pout*G) / (4*pi*r 2 ) where Pd = power density in mW/cm 2 Pout = output power to antenna in mW G = gain of antenna in linear scale Pi = 3.1416 R = distance between observation point and center of the radiator in cm Pd is the limit of MPE, 1 mW/cm 2 . If we know the maximum Gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the distance r where the MPE limit is reached. Ref. : David K. Cheng, Field and Wave Electromagnetics, Second Edition, Page 640, Eq. (11-133). 5. EUT Operating condition The software provided by Manufacturer enabled the EUT to transmit and receive data at lowest, middle and highest channel individually. FCC ID: O7J-GL2422MU-MT ADT No.: 920314R03 6. Test Results 6.1 Antenna Gain The maximum Gain measured in Fully Anechoic Chamber is 1.5dBi or 1.4125 (numeric). 6.2 Output Power Into Antenna & RF Exposure Distance : CHANNEL CHANNEL FREQUENCY (MHz) OUTPUT POWER TO ANTENNA (mW) MINIMUM ALLOWABLE DISTANCE ( r ) FROM SKIN (Centi-Meter) 1241248.642.34 6243748.422.33 11246249.202.35 The minimum allowable distance is very close to the enclosure of the antenna and is very far away from the human being under normal use condition.
