It receives X-, K-, and Ka-band radar signals, and detects both the instant-on and laser systems many law en- forcement agencies use to measure vehicle speed. Plus, your detector can give you advance warning of potential road haz- ards by detecting signals from transmitters that broadcast Safe- ty Alert System ο£ͺ alerts. Note: Before reading this Owner's Manual, read the supplied booklet Questions and Answers About Vehicle Speed Detection to familiarize yourself with the terms and uses associated with your detector. Your detector's features include: 360Β° Detection β€” detects laser signals from all around your ve- hicle. X-, K-, Ka-Band, Laser, and Ultralyte Laser Signal Detection β€” warns you when it detects signals from traffic radar or laser devices. Different tones and display indicators let you know the type of signal received. Safety Alert System Detection β€” alerts you to the presence of potential road hazards, approaching emergency vehicles, and busy railroad crossings broadcast by a Safety Alert System transmission. 22-1686.fm Page 3 Friday, March 31, 2000 2:09 PM 4 Features VG-2 Protection β€” makes your detector invisible to the VG-2 radar detector when it senses VG-2 operation. Instant-On or Pulse Radar Protection β€” alerts you to sudden high level and laser signals. City/Highway Modes β€” let you minimize alerts when you are in areas that have false radar sources. City/Highway Indicator β€” lights when you select city mode. FAST    (False Alert Suppression Technology) β€” helps pre- vent false alarms caused by non-traffic radar sources. Tutorial Mode β€” lets you experience how the detector alerts you with its detection display and tones to the different signals the detector recognizes. Your radar/laser detector includes the following items: β€’ coiled power cord β€’ windshield bracket with suction cups β€’ hook and loop tape β€’ spare fuse β€’ Question and Answer About Vehicle Speed Detection Important: Some areas have laws regulating the use of radar detectors. Check with your local law enforcement agency about the laws in your area. 22-1686.fm Page 4 Friday, March 31, 2000 2:09 PM 5 A Quick Look Γ A Quick Look 360Β° Laser Eye β€” receives incoming laser signals directed at your vehicle from all directions. VOLUME/OFF β€” turns the detector on and off and lets you ad- just the volume. DIM β€” controls the brightness of your detector's indicators. P (Power) Indicator β€” lights when the detector is turned on. X (X-Band Radar) Indicator β€” flashes when the detector de- tects an X-band radar signal. K/Ka (K/Ka-Band Radar) Indicator β€” flashes when the detec- tor detects either a K- or Ka-band radar signal. 2 and 3 β€” signal strength indicators that flash to provide an ac- curate visual indication of the strength of radar signals the de- tector receives. M (Emergency Vehicle) Indicator β€” flashes when the detec- tor detects the signal related to an emergency vehicle from a safety alert transmitter. O (Moving Train) Indicator β€” both indicators under O (M and S) flash when the detector detects the signal related to a mov- ing train from a safety alert transmitter. S (Stationary Road Hazard Situation) Indicator β€” flashes when the detector detects the signal related to a stationary road hazard from a safety alert transmitter. C (City) Indicator β€” lights when the detector is in the city mode. VG-2 Indicator β€” lights when a VG-2 signal is detected. MUTE β€” silences the alert tone for about 20 seconds. CITY (City/Highway) β€” switches between the city and highway modes. DC 12V Jack β€” provides easy power cord attachment. 22-1686.fm Page 6 Friday, March 31, 2000 2:09 PM 7 Installation SAFETY ALERT SY…

RADIATION INTERFERENCE: Testing was done in accordance with ANSI C63.4-2001. Section 15.35(b)specifies the use of an average detector in this band. In addition, the peak level of an emissions shall not exceed the average limit by more than 20 dB using a minimum Resolution Bandwidth (RBW) of 1 MHz and minimum Video Bandwidth (VBW) OF 1 MHz. The following procedure is designed to determine if there are any spurious emissions from the local oscillator within the band of interest along with any additional spurious emissions caused by other circuitry within the device. 1) Determine the fr…
