Continued\.... 12 August, 1999 Mr G Czumak Federal Communications Commission 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia MD 21046 Subject: Adaptive Broadband UNII Submission Our Ref: sd\ab01 Dear Mr Czumak This letter relates to the following applications: FCC ID: OJBAB-ACCESS-SU01 Form 731 Confirmation No.: EA93980 FCC ID: OJBAB-ACCESS-AP01 Form 731 Confirmation No.: EA94138 Confidentiality Request For reasons of retaining commercial intellectual property and the associated competitive advantage, Adaptive Broadband wish the following information to be held as confidential. • Schematics, including layout data and change notes. • Technical Report, including operation and block diagram. • Internal Photographs. • Test Report as this details our on-air modulation spectrum. • User Manuals as both AP and SU will be installed by the service provider’s installation teams and not the general public. Subscriber Unit Test Report – RFI\EMCB1\RP39361A The Test Report validating PSU and reference XTAL changes to -SU01. Adaptive Broadband have reverted back to the Artesyn PSU for reasons of cost and performance, in addition they are now using a 10MHz reference XTAL oscillator instead of the original 25MHz XTAL, again, for cost and availability reasons. As such they have retested radiated emissions to 1GHz and conducted emissions to 30MHz to assure compliance is maintained - the test report we will be attaching demonstrates this. 2 of 2 Test Report Passwords As a matter of policy under or UKAS accreditation RFI only issues password protected PDF reports. This ensures that information within the reports is not accidentally or deliberately changed by third parties. I can only apologies for the inconvenience, however we will try to ensure that graphs in future reports submitted to the FCC are in landscape format, which I hope will make things easier. Part 15 Subpart E: 1998 2.2. Description Of EUT AB-ACCESS is targeted at providing high-speed wireless internet access in the recently assigned FCC U-NII bands between 5GHz and 6GHz. AB-ACCESS adopts a cellular structure consisting of base stations (Access Point [AP]) servicing many users. It is a fixed access, point to multipoint infrastructure. The product is targeted at the US market only. The AP is routed via a ‘wall box’ to the network service provider’s trunked infrastructure. The AP has an integral antenna with a 60 degree 3dB beam width to illuminate the desired coverage area. AP units can be installed around the periphery of a tall building or on a tower for optimum coverage. Power and data (bi-directional) are routed via braid and foil screened, quad twisted pair, CAT 5 data cable from an internally mounted wall box (similar in construction to a standard BT telephone outlet) up to the AP antenna unit. Power and data status is also routed via this cable. Power is provided to the wall box via a standard FCC approved 48V DC supply. The wall box provides ATM connectivity via the RJ45 socket to the service providers network. 2.3. Modifications Incorpo…
