Your Lifeguard dealer is trained to answer any questions you may have onyour EMU system and its accessories.Me dical Eme rge ncyPress the EMU button and a medical related emergency will be communicated tothe control center, and the Two way HFM * session will be activated. AUTOMATED PROGRAMMING SYSTEME (APS)The automated programming system (APS) is designed to customize your EMUfeatures and functions to your requirements. To access the APS, lift the handset onyour telephone connected to your EMU, and dial your local APS number. (Contactyour dealer for assistance if needed).Once you are connected to the automated system (APS), you will receive step-by-step instructions to complete the programming process.Note: When accessing the APS, you will be asked for your contract number.Please ensure that you have your contract number available.Note: HFM* = Hand Free Mode.THE EMU-1000 BASIC KIT ACCESSORIES AND THEIR FUNCTIONS 4 • • • • ONE SECURITY LIFEGUARD UNIT Micro-controller based EMU model 1000. • ONE BASIC OPTIONAL SATELLITE UNIT This accessory is used as an extension of the EMU. HFM* function, andwill establish a two-way communication in areas beyond the EMU audiorange. All satellite units will be remotely controlled from the controlcenter. • ONE WRIST ALERT TRANSMITTER This accessory is water resistance and can be worn at all times. Whenevera medical emergency arises, simply press the wrist alert transmitter buttonand the EMU will immediately communicate a medical related emergencyto the control center, and a two-way HFM* session will be automaticallyactivated. (Optional programming available) • HFM* PHONE ANSWERINGWhen you are within audio range of the EMU, an incoming phone call maybe answered by simply pressing the wrist alert transmitter button after thefirst ring, and the EMU will act as a standard speaker-phone and a two-wayvoice communication will be automatically engaged with the caller.Pressing the wrist alert transmitter button a second time will hang up thephone and terminate the call. SET-UP OF THE EMU-1000(1) Insert the battery in the EMU battery compartment under the unit, (2) connect the phone cord to the phone jack on the wall near an electrical outlet and connectyour telephone in the telephone jack on the EMU, (3) Plug the provided AC/DC adapter to the back of the EMU and the other end to the electrical outlet( unswitche d e le ctrical outle t re quire d ), (4) To insure that the unit operates properly make a test with the control center.SET-UP OF SATELLITE(S)The satellite(s) must be positioned away from the line of sight of the EMU toavoid feedback. (1) Connect the satellite battery pack then (2) connect one end of the phone cord provided to the back of the satellite and the other end to an existingphone jack near an electrical outlet. (3) Plug the provided AC/DC adapter to the back of the satellite and the other end to the electrical outlet ( unswitche d electrical outlet required ). Note: HFM* = Hand Free Mode.
