Subject:Transmitter Power Control Claim Part 101.131 states that the transmitter needs "facilities ... to permit the transmitter to be turned on and off independently of any remote control circuits. Justification: The Triton IFU complies with this FCC requirement to turn on an off the transmitter independently. The power to any IFU product is delivered to the actual unit at the immediate rear power connection of the unit. This power connection is a quick disconnect connection for ease of power removal and restoration.
To: Paul Shores ITS/ES-Orl Subject: Triton FCC ID: OQT28SNP-12-02 and FCC ID: OQT29SNP-12-02 Paul: Technical review of these two applications for certification under Part 101L of the FCC Rules is complete. Both transmitters meet the technical rules for certification. However, certain exhibits must be provided or re-formatted to comply with FCC requirements, as follows: 1) parts list needs to be provided - both applications. 2) external photos - need a separate exhibit, both applications. 3) internal photos - need a separate exhibit, both applications. 4) ID label/location - need a copy of FCC label artwork, and indication of label placement on transmitter - both applications. 5) RF exposure information - please provide section 5.9 of test report as a separate exhibit, both applications. The Grants of Authorization for these transmitters will list the frequency range as the center of the lowest operating channel to the center of the highest operating channel, in each band, according to FCC practice. Accordingly, the frequencies will be listed as follows: FCC ID: OQT28SNP-12-02 frequency range emission designator 27, 575 MHz - 28,275 MHz 131MD7W 27,560 MHz - 28,290 MHz 107MD7W FCC ID: OQT29SNP-12-02 frequency range emission designator 29,175 MHz - 29,175 MHz 131MD7W 31,150 MHz - 31,150 MHz 131MD7W As this differs from the original Form 731 information, the applicant should verify the correctness of this presentation. Certification can proceed as soon as the exhibits listed above are provided. Thank you, Roland Gubisch TCB Manager

In 64-QAM and 128-QAM modulation, both the phase and the amplitude of the RF carrier is modulated such that each point of the constellation represents a particular phase and amplitude of the RF carrier. The spectrum of the modulated waveforms fits within the spectral masks defined by the FCC.

RF Safety evaluation The wireless consecutive point millimeter-wave transceiver models TNS28-SNP12-500-XX, TNS28- SNP12-600-XX are stationary fixed-mounted units with a maximum EIRP of 794 watts effective radiated power in the main lobe of the antenna. This is less than the 1,640 watts EIRP established by the FCC for RF safety evaluation, therefore the transmitter is categorically excluded from environmental assessment. Summary On March 22,2001, Triton Network Inc. located at 8337 South Park Circle, Orlando, FL 32819, tested the 28 GHz OC-12 Wireless Consecutive Point to Point Millimeter Wave Transmitter System Models: TNS28-SNP12-500-XX TNS28-SNP12-600-XX to determine if they were compliant with the FCC Part 101 emission standard. The difference between the models rests only on the selection of waveguide filters for the appropriate bands. We found that the units met applicable requirements when tested. 2. Product Description The 28 GHZ Sonet OC-12 radio is a data-link radio device. A pair of radios, working together, forms a full duplex 622 Mbps data link, in accordance with the Sonet OC-12 specification as specified in the Bellcore GR-253-CORE standard. Within the radio network model, the radio link acts as a physical layer link, or pipe, similar to a bi-d…

Sub-assemblies outside the shaded area shown in Figure A are microwave & millimeter-wave frequency modules tested to radio equipment compliance under the FCC Part 101 requirements as covered in this report. In addition, all aspects of the radio equipment housing, power supply, grounding schemes and any digital / CPU clock speeds are identical between radio equipment previously tested by ITS and the radio equipment models covered in this report. The IFU models under review in this report are built with the same construction of the IFUs that have been previously tested for incidental radiation. These IFUs that are under current review use the exact same housing and securing hardware. The internal subassemblies of the unit are all the same. The results of the previous testing on the IFU models for radiated emissions can be found in Table 1. The only observed spurious emission occurred at a field strength level of 33.8 dB(μV/m). The required spurious attenuation is equivalent to a power limit of –13 dBm conducted, which corresponds to a field strength level of 84.5 dB ( μ V/m) at 3 m. The observed spurious emission value is 50.7 dB below the regulatory limit, and thus no substitution measurements of spurious attenuation were performed. Table 1. An attached, separate analysis of noise floor, demonstrates that adequate margin exists to detect any spurious emissions present with at least 13 dB of margin below the attenuation limit at 200 GHz. This data review and analysis of the IFU construction justifies that the IFUs under review meet the requirements of Part 2.1053. 8529 SouthPark Circle * Orlando, Florida,32819 * Phone (407) 903-0900 Network Interface Card Modem Local Oscillator Ref Osc Power Supply Antenna Embedded CPU Data I/O OAM&P Maintenance Port 10BaseFL 10BaseT -48 Volts TNS IFU Radio Block Diagram RX BPF BPF Local Oscillator TX Figure A –IFU Sub-Assembly Block Diagram
Noise margin analysis, Triton Models [TNS28-SNP12-XXX-XX] Measurements for radiate spurious emissions from the transmitter section of the device were made down to the noise floor of the measurement equipment. The receiver was a Tektronix 2784 Spectrum analyzer; above 40 GHz a set of standard horns with integrated external mixers was used. This set is specifically matched to the Tektronix 2784 and the mixer conversion factors are incorporated in the display settings for the spectrum analyzer. Spurious emission measurements were investigated as part of the FCC part 15 test up to 2 GHz (at 10 meters) and from 1 to 200 GHz at 1 meter from the EUT. The 1 meter measurements were made using standard horns (EMCO 3115, 3116 and Millitech series horns with integral external mixers). The limit is 43 dB + 10 log(P0) where P0 is the nominal (conducted) output power. The measurement sensitivity at the limit needs to be 43dB + 10Log(0.2) below the reference level for spurious emission measurements. For a 20 dB margin below the limit a level of 56 dB below the carrier output needs to be recognizable at the noise floor of the measurement instrumentation. The reference output power for the spurious emission measurements is the nominal output power with the transmitter in normal operating (modulation) condition. All power levels are referenced to a standard dipole. The EIRP of the transmitter is -7 dB(W) + 36 dB(i) antenna gain or 29 dB(W) EIRP. A standard dipole with a maximum gain of 6 dB would require a comparable power of 23dB(W) to produce the same field strength . At a 1 meter measurement distance (where most measurements were made in this case), the worst case sensitivity of the Tektronix 2784 with a 1 MHz BW and the associated Millitech mixers is listed in the following table. The equivalent power into a standard dipole to generate the field just at the noise level is calculated from the standard isotropic field equation and allowing for the dipole gain. Specific attention was paid to internally generated frequencies and their mixing products.
