Information in this document is subject to change without notice. Intel Corporation assumes no responsibility for errors or omissions in this document. Nor does Intel make any commitment to update the information contained herein. IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL USERS OR DISTRIBUTORS: Intel wireless LAN adapters are engineered, manufactured, tested, and quality checked to ensure that they meet all necessary local and governmental regulatory agency requirements for the regions that they are designated and/or marked to ship into. Because wireless LANs are generally unlicensed devices that share spectrum with radars, satellites, and other licensed and unlicensed devices, it is sometimes necessary to dynamically detect, avoid, and limit usage to avoid interference with these devices. In many instances Intel is required to provide test data to prove regional and local compliance to regional and governmental regulations before certification or approval to use the product is granted. Intel's wireless LAN's EEPROM, firmware, and software driver are designed to carefully control Intel(R) WiFi Adapter Information Guide index.htm[12/16/2020 8:01:34 AM] parameters that affect radio operation and to ensure electromagnetic compliance (EMC). These parameters include, without limitation, RF power, spectrum usage, channel scanning, and human exposure. For these reasons Intel cannot permit any manipulation by third parties of the software provided in binary format with the wireless LAN adapters (e.g., the EEPROM and firmware). Furthermore, if you use any patches, utilities, or code with the Intel wireless LAN adapters that have been manipulated by an unauthorized party (i.e., patches, utilities, or code (including open source code modifications) which have not been validated by Intel), (i) you will be solely responsible for ensuring the regulatory compliance of the products, (ii) Intel will bear no liability, under any theory of liability for any issues associated with the modified products, including without limitation, claims under the warranty and/or issues arising from regulatory non-compliance, and (iii) Intel will not provide or be required to assist in providing support to any third parties for such modified products. Note: Many regulatory agencies consider Wireless LAN adapters to be "modules", and accordingly, condition system- level regulatory approval upon receipt and review of test data documenting that the antennas and system configuration do not cause the EMC and radio operation to be non-compliant. 100 Center Point Circle Columbia, SC 29210 Jan 10, 2021 Attestation Letter for Low Power Indoor Client Module Approval FCC ID: PD9AX211D2 We, Intel Corporation, attest that this device under FCC ID PD9AX211D2 complies with device protocol requirements and operational restrictions: for indoor client 6XD. a. Contention-Based Protocol, as demonstrated in the test report, is permanently embedded in the module and is not host-dependent. b. The device will only associate and connect with a low-power indoor access point or subordinate device and never directly connect to other client devices. c. This device will always initiate transmission under the control of a low-power indoor AP or subordinate except for brief transmissions before joining a network. These short messages will only occur if the client has detected an indoor AP or subordinate operating on a channel. These brief messages will have a time-out mechanism such that if it does not receive a response from an AP it will not continually repeat the request. d. Transmissions will be lower or equal to the power advertised by the indoor low-power access point or subordinate and never above the maximum output power allowed by the FCC grant for equipment class 6XD. e. Contention-based protocol as demonstrated in the test report is permanently embedded in the module and is not host-dependent. Furthermore, we fully understand this device is prohibited for control of or communications with unmanned aircraft systems, including drones. For any questions please contact me at your convenience. Intel Corporation 100 Center Point Circle Columbia, SC 29210 January 15, 2021 Federal Communications Commission 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, Maryland 21046 USA Subject: Model AX211NGW Wireless LAN A dapter Card FCC ID: PD9AX211D2 IC: 1000M-AX211D2 Gentlemen: Please be advised that the Model AX211D2W 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax + BT Wireless LAN mini-PCIe card is manufactured for the global market but when marketed in the U.S. under FCC ID: PD9AX211D2 and in Canada under IC: 1000M-AX211D2. The non- volatile memory (NVM) will be programmed at the factory to only actively scan and operate on these specific channels during normal WLAN operation. During Wi-Fi Direct mode the device may act as a group owner (GO) to establish a peer-to-peer (P2P) network including conditions when no master device is present on these specific channels. Channels 1-13,2412-2472MHz 802.11b mode Channels 1-13, 2412-2472MHz 802.11g mode Channels 1-13, 2412-2472MHz 802.11n mode (20MHz channel) Channels 3-11, 2422-2462MHz 802.11n mode (40MHz channel) The device operates as a client without radar detection capability and will be programmed at the factory to passively scan on the following dynamic frequency selection (DFS) channels and will only listen for a master device and cannot send a probe request to initiate communication on these DFS channels. Accordingly passive scanning provides protection f or TDWR operations and preventing transmission in the 5600MHz – 5650MHz frequency b and. Client software and drivers will never enable the device to act as a master or GO for operation in DFS frequency bands and therefore ad-hoc mode is always disabled on these passive scan DFS channels. Channels 52-64, 5260-5320MHz 802.11a mode Channels 52-64, 5260-5320MHz 802.11n mode (20 MHz channel) Channels 52-64, 5260-5320MHz 802.11ac mode (20 MHz channel) Channels 54-62, 5270-5310MHz 802.11n mode (40MHz channel) Channels 54-62, 5270-5310MHz 802.11ac mode (40MHz channel) Channel 58, 5290MHz 802.11ac mode (80MHz channel) Channel 50, 5250MHz 802.11ac mode (160MHz channel) Channels 100-140, 5500-5700MHz 802.11a mode Channels 100-140, 5500-5700MHz 802.11n mode (20 MHz channel) Intel Corporation 100 Center Point Circle Columbia, SC 29210 Channels 100-144, 5500-5720MHz 802.11ac mode (20 MHz channel) Channels 102-134, 5510-5670MHz 802.11n mode (40MHz channel) Channels 102-142, 5510-5710MHz 802.11ac mode (40MHz channel) Channels 106 &138, 5540 & 5690MHz 802.11ac mode (80MHz channel) Channel 114, 5570MHz 802.11ac mode (160MHz channel) This device meets the requirements of FCC Part 15.202 and accordingly will be programmed at the factory to active scan on the following non-DFS channels to initiate communication d uring normal WLAN operation. When operating in Wi-Fi Direct mode on these non-DFS channels, it may operate as a P2P client device or GO to establish a P2P network if, and only if, a master device is present and network communication is maintained between a master device and the GO. Channels 36-48, 5180-5240MHz 802.11a mode Channels 36-48, 5180-5240MHz 802.11n mode (20 MHz channel) Channels 36-48, 5180-5240MHz 802.11ac mode (20 MHz channel) Channels 38-46, 5190-5230MHz 802.11n mode (40MHz channel) Channels 38-46, 5190-5230MHz 802.11ac mode (40MHz channel) Channel 42, 5210MHz 802.11ac mode (80MHz channel) C hannels 149-165, 5745-5825MHz 802.11a mode Channels 149-165, 5745-5825MHz 802.11n mode (20 MHz channel) Channels 149-165, 5745-5825MHz 802.11ac mode (20 MHz channel) Channels151-159, 5755-5795MHz 802.11n mode (40MHz channel) Channels151-159, 5755-5795MHz 802.11ac mode (40MHz channel) Channel 155, 5775MHz 802.11ac mode (80MHz channel) This device meets the requirements of FCC Part 15.202 and 15.407 as a 6GHz band Low Power Indoor client module (6XD) and accor dingly will be programmed at the factory to passive scan (listen before talk) on the following channels. This client may initiate a brief message to associate with a low power indoor access point or subordinate and establish a connection only after receiving a confirmation signal confirming that an AP is present and operating on a particular channel. After being associated, the indoor client can only init iate transmission with that access point. Indoor client devices cannot make a direct air interface connection to other clients. 5925MHz - 6425MHz, 802.11a/n/ac/ax mode (all channel BWs) 6425MHz - 6525MHz, 802.11a/n/ac/ax mode (all channel BWs) 6525MHz - 6875MHz, 802.11a/n/ac/ax mode (all channel BWs) 6875MHz - 7125MHz, 802.11a/n/ac/ax mode (all channel BWs) This information when programmed into the NVM will not be accessible and cannot be changed by the end user. The transmitter is approved as a non-software defined radio and OEMs and third party system integrators do not have the ability through software to allow configuration controls that would permit the device to operate outside the grant conditions per FCC KDB 594280. For the labeling exhibit they submitted the label with an explanation that the form factor has been accepted in the past by ISED. ISED asked for us to provide Intels previous correspondence in order to proceed as well as something denoting appropriate sizes and the application has been in pass back since December. Our contact at Intel is fairly certain ISED has granted them permission in the past on this form factor, but has not had the time to investigate and provide the past proof and is currently "buried" in other priorities. Therefore on their behalf we are submitting the attached and requesting permission for the labeling to be placed into the manual based on the information provided. They use the basic form factor for many devices and have several upcoming approvals based on the same form factor (known as D2 to Intel) as well. If possible we would like to obtain permission for Intel to place the labeling in the manual for all certifications that they use this particular form factor. Could ISED please review the attached and provide feedback as appropriate? Thank You, 2 Timothy R.
