LDMOS transistors operate in AB class. It is a wideband amplifier over the full frequency, no adjustment is required for the channel change. The board includes RF section amplifier, bias circuit, protection circuit and matching networks. A silver plated copper plate is brazed with PCB in order to obtain low thermal resistance. Providing a minimum of 200W Pk sync linear power, this module is the perfect amplifier for any broadband UHF power transmitter. STEP 2.Check the voltages of the polarisation circuits without assembling the transistors first: connect the 32V power supply to the proper turret by means of a fastening screw, then give power and check data: - the stabilised voltage on the zener diodes DZ1 and DZ2 is about 15V compared to the ground; - the stabilised voltage on the zener diodes DZ3 and DZ4 is about 6.8V compared to the ground; - the voltage on the pads to which the gates of the LDMOS transistors will be soldered (R23 and R24 resistors side) changes from 0V to a maximum value of about 6V when moving the relevant trimmer (R7-R8). STEP3.Check the work of the protections. - Set both trimmers so that there is a value of about 4.5V on the pads of the gates; - solder some wire to the pad between the two LEDs, next to the serigraphy of the input hybrid H1; - in order to check the work of the protections aboard, a power of about 4V has to be supplied to the wire, for example by touching with it the reophore of C23 or C24 which is not connected to ground; the two red LEDs will immediately light up and the two RF transistors will be switched off at the same time: the polarisation current (2A) will decrease to 0 and of course the gain curve displayed by the spectrum analyser will decrease; - after this it is important to restore the position of the two trimmers for the minimum voltage! Then disconnect the 32V power supply. STEP 4.Fastening of the LDMOS transistors: after properly cleaning the plate surface, smear a thin layer of silicone fat on the lower side of the flange of the MOSFETs, fasten them to the heat sink and solder the gate first, then the drain. Solder the two 13pF (ATC) chip capacitors and above them the two 1-5pF Solder a wire 82 capacitive trimmers, between the two pair of gates, as shown by the mounting plan. STEP5. Connect serially a c.c. amperometer to the power supply, with scale starting from more than 5A (i.e. 10A). STEP 6.Power the module and check the MOSFET is not…

Extract the coupling 5 (Fig. 1) until it stops. 2. Insert the couplings 3, letting about 5mm out. 3. Connect the filter to the Network Analyser marking the input. Select the frequency of the desired channel centre and set a SPAN of 50MHz. 4. Act on the tuning rods 1 and 2 until the curve of the band-pass appears in the centre of the screeen, and adjust it by means of the couplings 3 to obtain a width of about 10MHz (Fig. 2). 114 Fig. 2 5. Set a SPAN of 20MHz and act alternatively on: - Interstage coupling 3 (rise and lower); - IN/OUT couplings 4 (turn); - Tuning 1 and 2 (rise and lower); to obtain a bandwidth of 7-8MHz and an adaptation of about 25dB, composed by four peaks (Fig. 3). Fig. 3 6. Insert the coupling 5 (Fig. 1) to set the position of the notch attenuation on the desired frequencies (Fig. 4) (5.5MHz and +11MHz or 4-5MHz and +9MHz). 115 Fig. 4 7. The adaptation has moved; it can be adjusted by acting on the filter as per point 6, correcting each time the attenuation tuning by means of the coupling 5, until a frequency response like that in the example (Fig. 5) is obtained. Fig. 5 8. Once the calibration is complete, the machanical movement during the locking stage will have to be compensator for, because a variation of the adaptation may occur. It only takes to extract slightly the tuning which is being fastened. 116 - Calibration procedure from 66MHz to 860MHz 1. Extract the coupling 5 (Fig. 1) until it stops. 2. Extract the couplings 3 making sure not to short-circuit them. 3.Connect the filter to the Network Analyser, marking the input. Select the frequency of the desired centre channel and set a SPAN of 50MHz. 4. Act on the tuning rods 1 and 2 until the curve of the band-pass appears in the centre of the screen and adjust it by means of the coupling 3 to obtain a width of about 10MHz (Fig. 2). The tuning 2, due to the elliptical system according to which the filter has been designed, will compose the attenuation of the notch as well as the curve of the band-pass. 117 Fig. 2 5. Set a SPAN of 20MHz and act alternatively on: - Interstage couplings 3 (rise and lower); - IN/OUT couplings 4 (turn); - Tuning 1 and 2 (rise and lower); to obtain a bandwidth of 7-8MHz and an adaptatio…

January 26, 2007 Federal Communications Commission Office of Engineering Technology 445 12 th Street SW Washington, DC 20554 Dear Sir, This letter will serve to address FCC correspondence letter 32366 and 32424 regarding the type certification for the Elettronika TXUP3500 broadcast transmitter. The associated FCC ID number is PHLTXUP3500. Specifically, the correspondence letter identified above seeks additional information on how the transmitter is configured regarding whether integral components are the same for both frequency ranges of the proposed grant frequencies. As the technical consultant for Elettronika, they have authorized me to provide information which should help resolve this question. It is my technical opinion that only one set of test data needs to be submitted for both frequency ranges 470-608 MHz and 614-806 MHz based upon the design of the unit. The design of the unit is such that the transmitter works over the entire 470-806 MHz with no change of parts. The only frequency dependent parts within the transmitter are the channel filter in the exciter and transmitter final bandpass filter. The exciter filter is a passive device and consists of one item that is tuned per operating channel. Likewise the transmitter final bandpass filter is a passive device and is the same block of material but it is tuned to the desired operating channel. The performance obtained at any test frequency within the entire range of 470-806 MHz will be representative of each transmitter shipped. If there are any clarifications needed or you have any questions please give me a call at the number above. Sincerely, Greg Best President Cc Maria Quintero, Elettronika America Greg Best Consulting, Inc. 9223 N. Manning Ave. Kansas City, MO 64157 816-792-2913

AUTV/3500LD LDMOS - UHF TV SOLID STATE AMPLIFIER INTRODUCTION The AUTV/3500LD belongs to the High Power UHF products family of Television Transmitters fully in solid state technology. The AUTV/3500LD series represents the 3.5kW TV Transmitters operating in the IV/V Band for Common amplification process (separate amplification available) of the Vision and Sound carriers. This Transmitters family has been designed to offer to the customer high performances, high reliability and greater simplicity in their operation and maintenance procedures. The Vision and Sound signal processing is provided for all TV Standards and all types of Audio applications (Mono & Dual sound - NICAM) together with colour systems such as PAL - NTSC - SECAM. Thanks to the amplitude and phase pre- correction circuit, it is possible to cancel the distortions in the output stage, thus cutting down the operating costs. The RF transposition in the driver is carried out by a synthesizer with various possibilities of accuracy and stability as well as precision offset locked by internal or external frequency reference. The RF amplifier is made up by three RF modules installed in a power rack, the modules are dedicated for the Vision and Sound carriers common amplification. The amplifiers employ solid state LDMOS technology in order to obtain wide band, reliability, and high efficiency. Each RF module has a built-in switching- mode power supply unit, self-protected against overcurrents and overvoltages, as well as overtemperature and VSWR for RF parameters. The cooling system is fully contained into the transmitter. The control unit provides full management of the transmitter without the presence of the operator, the system includes a central controller and several peripheral units installed in each RF module and rack. The control device includes a fault finding system to detect equipment malfunctions and locate the faulty subassembly which needs to be replaced. The interlock circuit is independent on the software and remains always operational whether computer control is present or not. The operator interface is made by a high resolution LCD graphic display and a simple keyboard, the menu is very friendly and easy to use. The Control Unit can be fully controlled in REMOTE mode via link or via modem in RS232 or other interface. The equipment design allows the soft degradation (RF power loss) for several transistors faults.
