LDMOS transistors operate in AB class. It is a wideband amplifier over the full frequency, no adjustment is required for the channel change. The board includes RF section amplifier, bias circuit, protection circuit and matching networks. A silver plated copper plate is brazed with PCB in order to obtain low thermal resistance. Providing a minimum of 200W Pk sync linear power, this module is the perfect amplifier for any broadband UHF power transmitter. STEP 2.Check the voltages of the polarisation circuits without assembling the transistors first: connect the 32V power supply to the proper turret by means of a fastening screw, then give power and check data: - the stabilised voltage on the zener diodes DZ1 and DZ2 is about 15V compared to the ground; - the stabilised voltage on the zener diodes DZ3 and DZ4 is about 6.8V compared to the ground; - the voltage on the pads to which the gates of the LDMOS transistors will be soldered (R23 and R24 resistors side) changes from 0V to a maximum value of about 6V when moving the relevant trimmer (R7-R8). STEP3.Check the work of the protections. - Set both trimmers so that there is a value of about 4.5V on the pads of the gates; - solder some wire to the pad between the two LEDs, next to the serigraphy of the input hybrid H1; - in order to check the work of the protections aboard, a power of about 4V has to be supplied to the wire, for example by touching with it the reophore of C23 or C24 which is not connected to ground; the two red LEDs will immediate…

AUDIO MONO MODULATOR MODULEMTG0071AR1 DESCRIPTION The audio signal enters the module through one 600W balanced or 10kW unbalanced XLR connection, which may be placed either on the front or rear panel and software- selected. It is conditioned by a digital power-meter with a ±8dB 0.5dB-step dynamic and muting. Then there are the emphasis and clipping stages (which can be inserted via software), before the frequency modulation of the audio carrier. The control system of the audio subcarrier is a PLL which locking frequency can be selected via software depending to the transmission standard, while the reference frequency comes from the video module. The control frequency comes from a VCTCXO inside the module to foresee the possibility of a separated-audio system, for which the 20MHz may be locked to a more precise system coming from the 5/10MHz bus. The carrier obtained this way is modulated in frequency and level-conditioned by an IF gain stage trough a digital power-meter with a ±3dB dynamic in fine tuning before being added to the video carrier. The following control signal for the modulator operation are present on the board: PLL lock status of the audio subcarrier, Overload on the audio input, Peak level of the deviation of the audio subcarrier. All of the operating parameters of the board are managed by the built-in micro-processor. Communication to outside are performed trough RS485 bus. Input relay ñ chooses the audio source between the XLR on the front panel of the module and the one on the back of the apparatus and selects the input impedance to 600W or 10kW; both switching are managed by the software. 2. Audio level regulation stage ñ regulates the level of the audio signal by means of a digital potentiometer which can be programmed trough a uWIRE interface (with 0.5dB step between -8dB and +8dB). 3. Emphasis stage ñ inserts an emphasis curve on the audio signal with a time constant depending on the standard (50,75us); the choice can be selected via software. 4. Deviation limiter ñ cuts the audio level to limit the FM deviation; its intervention is handled by the software and the intervention of the clipper, if any, is signalled by a red LED on the front panel. 5. Low-pass filter ñ filters the audio signal before the modulation to suppress external residues from the audio band (20Hz-15kHz); the filter can be inserted by means of jumpers on the board. 6. Audio signal level measurement ñ this stage detects the peak level of the audio signal providing a conditioned analog voltage for the A/D conversion; the voltage will be processed by the microcontroller of the display board (see MTG0079) to be shown as VU-METER. 7. Frequency modulator ñ converts to intermediate frequency the audio signal as FM modulation of a carrier. 8. Carrier level regulation stage ñ switches on and off the audio carrier and the regulation within at least ±3dB of the level referring to the video carrier. 9. IF amplifier ñ amplifies the audio carrier to obtain an output level of -6dBm. 10. Output low-pass filter ñ filters the harmonics of the audio carrier. 11. Audio IF oscillator ñ generates the audio carrier performing the PLL frequency synthesis; the selectable standards and the lock indication are handled by the software. 12. 20MHz reference ñ the frequency reference for the PLL synthesis of the carrier is generated by a TCXO which may be locked to a more precise 5/10MHz external reference (see MTG0076). 13. 102 MULT. UHF LOCAL OSCILLATOR MODULEMTG0084AR0 DESCRIPTION The synthesis system of the local oscillator for the channel conversion is based on a control technique which allows to obtain the programming of the standard, the channel (split into the three bands I, III, IV/V) and the line offset (as multiple of the line frequency of the video signal) via software, with no change to be made. The module includes an internal VCTCXO reference which can be locked to a more precise 5/10MHz reference (trough the bus) needed if the field offset is used. Local oscillator ñ generated the carrier to be synthesised, it is split into three windows (I-II / III / IV-V band) to ensure the coverage of all of the TV channels to be implemented for all standards. 2. Radio-frequency splitter ñ splits the signal coming from the local oscillator by means of splitters and amplifiers, with 10dB attenuation and gain respectively, to ensure the complete isolation of the LO from the other stages and to minimise the ëfrequency pullingí phenomenon. 3. PLL stage ñ synthesises the desired channel by locking the LO to a 20MHz frequency reference by means of a PLL which can be configured via uWire and provides the locking and line-offset indication (LED on frontal panel); the choice is made via software. 4. Active ring filter ñ stabilises the system in PLL retro-action and e has to be modified if the operating band of the module changes (see table attached to the electrical diagram). 5. Conditioning stage of the correction voltage ñ conditions the correction voltage of the PLL ring providing a conditioned analog voltage for the A/D conversion; the voltage is processed by the microcontroller of the display board (see MTG0079) to be displayed as VU-METER. 6. Mixer ñ in the UPCONVERTER version of the module, converts to channel the intermediate frequency coming from the pre-corrector (see MTG0073) using a LEVEL13 mixer (in case the module is only used as LO, see REPEATER configuration, this stage is not present and the synthesised carrier goes directly to the output of the module). 7. 20MHz reference ñ the frequency reference to the PLL synthesis of the carrier is generated by an internal TCXO which fine control of the frequency is internally generated via PWM by the microcontroller or, alternately, can be locked to a more precise 5/10MHz external reference (see MTG0076). 8. Controller ñ all of the described operations are managed by a microcontroller communicating to the user interface board (see MTG0079) by RS485 protocol; the local controller stores the status of the module and a reprogramming of the firmware (possible via RS485 from the display board) does not alter its contents.
