BlueGate 2100 Mounting Instructions & Template Screw Anchor in here Screw Anchor in here BlueGate 2100 should be mounted on the ceiling or wall to achieve maximum performance. See the Start Here guide for help in setting up BlueGate 2100 Choose a location at least 20 centimeters (8 inches) from normal human contact. Tape this template to the installation location and use a nail or other small pointed object to mark the locations of the screw anchors. Remove the template and install the included screw anchors with a #2 Phillips screwdriver. Insert the power and Ethernet cables into their respective jacks on BlueGate 2100. BlueGate 2100 Quick Install 1. Mount BlueGate 2100 on the wall or place it on a flat surface away from heat, moisture, open flames, microwave devices and 2.4 GHz telecommunications devices. Route the Ethernet cable away from other cables that may cause interference. 2. Snap one end of the Ethernet cable into the jack of a hardwired connection to the network. 3. Place the other end of the Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 connector on BlueGate 2100. 4. Insert the power plug into the power jack on BlueGate 2100. 5. Plug the power supply into a 120-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz outlet. BlueGate 2100 will automatically obtain an IP address from the Local Area Network DHCP server. Refer to section 5.2 of the BlueGate Administrator’s Guide if installing in a non-DHCP environment. 6. Insert the BlueGate 2100 compact disc and enter the MAC (Media Access Control) address (found on the serial number label) on the second screen of the wizard. On the third screen select the “Check to automatically open browser when finished” option and click Finish. If the wiza rd does not start automatically when the CD is inserted, click Start > Run, enter D:\FindIP.exe in the dialog box and then click OK. CAUTION: Telephone cables often use the same type of connector as network cables; some wall plates, especially in office environments, have both telephone and network jacks in the same plate. Widcomm Inc.7/20/2001 FCC Application XXX-WBC-10001Operating Description Application PKLWBG-2100 Additional Information for FCC approval of Widcomm Inc.’s Bluegate 2100 Operating Description May 22, 2001 The Bluegate 2100 is a network access product designed to provide a concurrent wireless bi-directional link between a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port and up to 7 other Bluetooth devices. The Bluegate 2100 device contains an Alps integrated Bluetooth transceiver component, network processor, field programmable gate array, interface components, and power management. The device field programmable gate array, and software work in conjunction allowing a seamless connection that is designed to operate simultaneously with neighboring wireless Bluetooth devices. The Bluetooth topology, concept, and algorithms handle multiple user environments. The transceiver is implemented using Bluetooth radio module from Alps(see “Item 6-BG FCC-Alps Module DS.pdf”). This module contains a 2.4GHz Bluetooth radio which is designed for fast frequency hopping over 79 one megahertz channels. The design is implemented on a single boards isolated into three distinct areas: RF, Analog, and baseband. The Alps RF transceiver is connected to a proprietary PCB patch antenna that was designed by Widcomm (see “Item 6-BG FCC-Widcomm PCB Patch Antenna Spec.pdf”). The unit is powered from a 6VDC/2A wall wart. Major support IC’s internal to the device are, a network processor, Flash memory, synchronous DRAM, 10/100 Base- T Ethernet Phy, a crystal oscillator at 16 MHz, PLL based clock generator, Bluetooth RF Transceiver, and interface components. In addition, a correction factor for the antenna , cable used and a distance factor, if any, must be applied to the Meter Reading before a true field strength reading can be obtained. In the automatic measurement, these considerations are automatically presented as a part of the print out.
