American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 October 25, 2001 RE: ELANsat Technologies, Inc. FCC ID: PNK2G4-CM After a review of the submitted information, I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. 1) The label on the EUT displays both the FCC ID as well as the FCC Logo. The use of the FCC logo (for products authorized under Part 15) is reserved for products authorized using a Declaration of Conformity route to compliance. Please remove the logo from the label. 2) The label does not include the information specified by 15.19(a)(3), although this information was presented in the manual. Please note that use of section 15.19(a)(5) for the labeling statements is typically reserved for extremely small devices (i.e. pacemaker, keychain remotes, etc.) where the space limitations are obvious. For this product there appears to be plenty of space to provide a label on the device. Please comment on this issue. 3) The power cords should typically tied to 30-40 cm bundles during conducted testing, however the photographs show that the cables were not tied in this fashion during the test. Please check to ensure that the previous results obtained are still valid in this configuration, or provide new data. 4) The test report states that the EUT was tested to 25 GHz, however the test equipment does not contain any antenna's valid for testing above 18 GHz. Please comment on this issue. 5) The test data for > 1 GHz was taken with an average detector only. Although the limits given by the table in 15.249(c) are average limits, there is also a limit for the peak emission (20 dB above the average emission). The test report did not present any peak data or information regarding the peak to average ratio for this device. Please provide further information to prove compliance with the peak limits. 6) The power ratings in the manual (800-1600 mW) seem high and do not appear to match the expected levels from this device and the radiated results provided. Please provide further information regarding this discrepancy. 7) The required statements given in 15.21 and 15.105 should be added to the users manual as applicable. Timothy R. Johnson Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Dear Timothy, Enclosed please find the answer of review comments (FCC ID: PNK2G4-CM ) Answer : 1. Our client has modified the label and take off the FCC logo. The file name: Label.pdf 2. Our client has added the information specified by 15.19(a)(3) at the label, but the description on the label is too small to see clearly. Is this description essential? The file name: Label.pdf 3. The set-up photo and test data were modified as attached. The file name: Ce.pdf 4. We used two type of antanna for this testing, one is EMCO 3115(1-18GHz) an other is Schwarzbeck BBHA9170 ( 14-40GHz), the details of antana please see section 2.4 of report.. Refer to the file name:010791 5. The data has been update. Please see section 3.5 of report. refer to the attach file name: 010791 6. 800~1600mW is Power Consumption of the EUT, not RF output power, the update manual was attached as filename: manual. 7. The FCC require statements has been added in manual of page 4, please see the attached filename: manual. If you need more information please fell free to contact me. Best regards.
