Operational Description

Encoder / DecoderA5882 / A5883 1DS-A5882 / A5883 A. General Description The A5882 / A5883 are the Encoder / Decoder CMOS LSI used in the Remote Control System. The A5882 encodes 12 bits of trinary information (8 address bits, 4 data bits) and serially transmits this information upon receipt of a “LOW” input signal on any one of 4 data pins, a LED indicator will on while data transmission. The A5882 is capable of encoding 3 8 different address code and 4 data code. The A5883 receives the 12 bit word and interprets the first 8 bits as address and the last 4 bits as data. When the encoder sends data with address matching what of the decoder, the Valid Transmission (VT) pin of decoder goes high and the 4 bits data are latched to the data output pins. B. Features • Low power, high noise immunity CMOS technology. • Low stand-by current: 1μA typically. • Wide operating voltage: 2.4V – 12V. • LED data transmission indicator. • 3 8 trinary address code, 4 data output. • Built-in oscillator, only use 5% resistor. • Two times receive check. • VT goes high after Valid transmission. • Easy inerface with RF or Infra-Red transmission media. • Minimum external component. • 18 pin plastic dual-in-line package. C. Applications • Burglar alarm system. • Smoke and fire alarm system. • Garage door controller. • Car door controller. • Car alarm system. • Security system. • Cordless telephone. • Other remote control system. RADIATION INTERFERENCE: The test procedure used was ANSI STANDARD C63.4-1992 using a HEWLETT PACKARD spectrum analyzer with a prese- lector. The bandwidth of the spectrum analyzer was 100 kHz with an appropriate sweep speed. The analyzer was calibrated in dB above a microvolt at the output of the antenna. The resolution bandwidth was 100KHz and the video bandwidth was 300KHz. The ambient temperature of the UUT was 85ºF with a humidity of 45%. REPORT #: F\FLYING\659H1\659H1RPT.doc PAGE #: 1 TEST PROCEDURES CONTD. FORMULA OF CONVERSION FACTORS: The Field Strength at 3m was estab- lished by adding the meter reading of the spectrum analyzer (which is set to read in units of dBuV) to the antenna correction factor sup- plied by the antenna manufacturer. The antenna correction factors are stated in terms of dB. The gain of the Preselector was accounted for in the Spectrum Analyzer Meter Reading. Example: Freq (MHz) METER READING + ACF = FS 33 20 dBuV + 10.36 dB = 30.36 dBuV/m @ 3m ANSI STANDARD C63.4-1992 10.1.7 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES: The UUT was placed on a table 80 cm high and with dimensions of 1m by 1.5m. The UUT was placed in the center of the table. The table used for radiat- ed measurements is capable of continuous rotation. The spectrum was scanned from 30 MHz to 10th harmonic of the fundamental. Peak readings were taken in three (3) orthogonal planes and the high- est readings were converted to average readings based on the duration of "ON" time. Measurements were made by TIMCO ENGINEERING INC. at the registered open open field test site located at 849 NW State Road 45, Newberry, Fl 32669. When an emission was found, the table was rotated to produce the maximum signal strength. At this point, the antenna was raised and lowered from 1m to 4m. The antenna was placed in both the horizontal and vertical planes. ANTENNA & GROUND: This unit uses the PCB inductor as the antenna. There is no provision for an external antenna.
