FCC ID:PQS-DWM0001 Applicant:Wavenet Technologies Pty Ltd Equipment:PDA Wireless Modem Attachment for Palm-M Series Model:DUALWAVE-M Standard:FCC 96 –326, Guidelines for Evaluating the Environmental Effects of Radio-Frequency Radiation ENGINEERING SUMMARY This report contains the results of the engineering evaluation performed on the DUALWAVE-M Attachment for the Palm-M series PDA. The measurements were carried out in accordance with FCC 96-326. The DUALWAVE-M was evaluated for its maximum power level 32.1 dBm / 1.622 W (ERP) with a 10 % duty cycle. The DUALWAVE-M modem is an attachment for a Palm-M series PDA. The device can also be attached to a desktop PC. The DUALWAVE-M was tested at low, middle and high channels for the keyboard up, keyboard down, and right sides for body, and hand, exposure while attached to the PDA and for bystander exposure while attached to a laptop. The maximum 10g SAR (0.55 W/kg) was found to coincide with the peak performance RF output power of channel 2000 (806 MHz) for the Keyboard Down of the device. (The hot spot is located near the base of the antenna). The maximum 1g SAR (1.1 W/kg) was found to coincide with the peak performance RF output power of channel 2000 (806 MHz) for the Keyboard Down of the device. (The hot spot is located near the base of the antenna). The conservative SAR was measured with no separation distance (zero mm) from the device to the phantom. Test data and graphs are presented in this report. The DUALWAVE-M was tested for bystander exposure while attached to a laptop PC with and without the PDA. It was found that the assessed delta produced a lower value SAR while the DUT was attached to the laptop. All tests conducted and documented in this report were performed while the DUT was used in wireless mode. Based on the test results and on how the device will be marketed and used, it is certified that the product meets the requirements as set forth in the above specifications, for the RF exposure environment. The results presented in this report relate only to the sample tested. Page 3 of 31Project # WVT—Dual Wave M Motient Cradle-3873 51 Spectrum WayTel. The measurements were carried out in accordance with the FCC Rules and Regulations Part 2.1049. The product was evaluated for bandwidth when it was set at the maximum power level. The DUALWAVE M was tested with Palm m500. The Wireless Modem is an attachment for a Palm and it can be attached to a PC. However, the Bandwidth Limitation was carried out only on Wireless Modem attached to Palm m500, as bandwidth does not change due to different configurations. Modulation Characteristics (FCC Rule PART 2.1047): This test is not applicable, as the device is not capable of voice transmission. Limiting of Modulation: The Modulation levels are fixed for digital modulation levels only and are digitally generated. The Modulation deviation is set during manufacture to the standard RD LAP 19.2 kbps 4 level FSK modulation and MDC 4.8 kbps 2 level FSK. This format is digital non-voice data only, continuous frequency, continuous phase, and frequency shift keying, narrow band frequency modulation.
