ISSUED BY: Advance Data Technology Corporation LAB ADDRESS: 47 14 th Lin, Chiapau Tsun, Linko, Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. TEST LOCATION: No. 19, Hwa Ya 2 nd Rd., Kueishan, Taoyuan, Taiwan, R.O.C. FCC ID: PY306200053 Report No: SA950601L15 2 RF EXPOSURE MEASUREMENT (MOBILE DEVICE) 1. INTRODUCTION In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body for our product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC) calibrated for antenna measurement in ADT, and also the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. Although the Friis transmission formula is a far field assumption, the calculated result of that is an over-prediction for near field power density. We will take that as the worst case to specify the safety range. 2. RF EXPOSURE LIMIT According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b) LIMITS FOR MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE (MPE) FREQUENCY RANGE (MHz) ELECTRIC FIELD STRENGTH (V/m) MAGNETIC FIELD STRENGTH (A/m) POWER DENSITY (mW/cm 2 ) AVERAGE TIME (minutes) (A)LIMITS FOR OCCUPATIONAL / CONTROL EXPOSURES 300-1500......F/3006 1500-100,000......56 (B)LIMITS FOR GENERAL POPULATION / UNCONTROLLED EXPOSURE 300-1500......F/15006 1500-100,000......1.030 F = Frequency in MHz FCC ID: PY306200053 Report No: SA950601L15 3 3. FRIIS FORMULA Friis transmission formula : Pd = (Pout*G) / (4*pi*r 2 ) where Pd = power density in mW/cm 2 Pout = output power to antenna in mW G = gain of antenna in linear scale Pi = 3.1416 R = distance between observation point and center of the radiator in cm If we know the maximum Gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the MPE value at distance r. EUT OPERATING CONDITION The software provided by Manufacturer enabled the EUT to transmit and receive data at lowest, middle and highest channel individually. 5. CLASSIFICATION This device is fixed inside the host equipment. Warning statement to the user for keeping at least 20cm or more separation distance with the antenna should be included in users manual. So, this device is classified as Mobile Device. FCC ID: PY306200053 Report No: SA950601L15 4 6. Report No.: RF950601L15112Report Format Version 2.0.4 4.6.3 TEST PROCEDURE For Single TX: The transmitter output was connected to the spectrum analyzer via a low lose cable. Set both RBW and VBW of spectrum analyzer to 100kHz with suitable frequency span including 10Hz bandwidth from band edge. The band edges was measured and recorded. The spectrum plots (Peak RBW = VBW = 100kHz; Average RBW = 1MHz, VBW = 10Hz) are attached on the following pages. For Dual TX: a. The EUT was placed on the top of a rotating table 0.8 meters above the ground at a 3 meter semi-anechoic chamber. The table was rotated 360 degrees to determine the position of the highest radiation. b. The EUT was set 3 meters away from the interference-receiving antenna, which was mounted on the top of a variable-height antenna tower. c. The antenna is a broadband antenna, and its height is varied from one meter to four meters above the ground to determine the maximum value of the field strength. Both horizontal and vertical polarizations of the antenna are set to make the measurement. d. For each suspected emission, the EUT was arranged to its worst case and then the antenna was tuned to heights from 1 meter to 4 meters and the rotatable table was turned from 0 degrees to 360 degrees to find the maximum reading. e. Set both RBW and VBW of spectrum analyzer to 100kHz with suitable frequency span including 100MHz bandwidth from band edge. The band edges was measured and recorded. The spectrum plots (Peak RBW = VBW = 100kHz; Average RBW = 1MHz, VBW = 10Hz) NOTE: The resolution bandwidth of test receiver/spectrum analyzer is 1 MHz and the video bandwidth is 10Hz for Average detection (AV) at frequency above 1GHz. 4.6.4 DEVIATION FROM TEST STANDARD No deviation Report No.: RF950601L15113Report Format Version 2.0.4 4.6.5 EUT OPERATING CONDITION Same as Item 4.3.6 4.6.6 TEST RESULTS The spectrum plots are attached on the following 30 images. The band edge emission plot on the next page shows 51.46dBc between carrier maximum power and local maximum emission in restrict band (2.38660GHz). The emission of carrier strength list in the test result of channel 1 at the item 4.2.7 is 104.37dBuV/m (Average), so the maximum field strength in restrict band is 104.37-51.46=52.91dBuV/m which is under 54dBuV/m limit.
