Bowman Drive Buford, GA 30518 Re: FCC ID: QHC-KVEVZE41 To Whom It May Concern: The following application is submitted on behalf of our client, Itron, for evaluation of their model 570974-001 for certification under FCC Part 15.247 for a limited modular approval. The 570974-001 is a module that is designed to be integrated into 2S, 3S, 4S, 9S, 12S, 16S and 45S electric utility meter forms. The 570974-001 includes (1) 900 MHz FHSS radio, (1) HAN 802.15.4 2.4 GHz Zigbee module and an on-board Sierra Wireless CDMA modem SL5011, FCC ID: N7NSL5011 / IC: 2417C- SL5011. The Sierra Wireless CDMA modem SL5011 is modular approved and not covered under the scope of this filing. The 570974-001 is designed to be integrated into 2S, 3S, 4S, 9S, 12S, 16S and 45S electric utility meter forms and be collocated and transmit simultaneously with the on-board Sierra Wireless CDMA modem SL5011 (FCC ID: N7NSL5011 / IC: 2417C-SL5011). The 570974-001 was tested in full to the requirements of the aforementioned rules and was found to be in compliance. The 570974-001 was also evaluated for intermodulation products due to simultaneous transmissions and found compliant. Federal Communications Commission Date: May 12, 2014 P.O. Box 429 Columbia, MD 21045 RE: Application for Limited Modular Approval Certification for the kV2c-AMPZE module Dear Sir or Madam: The following information addresses the requirements to support a limited modular approval as required by FCC Part 15.212, Modular Transmitters. 1. The direct sequence spread spectrum transmitter and frequency hopping spread spectrum transmitter sections are not shielded. Testing has been performed to assure compliance. 2. The kV2c-AMPZE does not have external modulation or data inputs. The RF section is driven by an on board MCU which controls RF data lines and does not allow excessive modulation. 3. The modular transmitter has its own power regulation. The module will be integrated into a meter host which also offers power regulation. 4. The direct sequence transmitter has an antenna that is permanently imbedded into the module circuit board. 5. The frequency hopping spread spectrum transmitter has an antenna connected and permanently mounted under glass in the host meter. 6. The kV2c-AMPZE module was tested within a host meter. This module will always be integrated internal to a meter host. 7. The kV2c-AMPZE register module will be labeled as required. The meter host will also have the required labeling. 8. Operating requirements are included in the host technical manual. 9. MPE measurements are provided to demonstrate RF compliance. There is a cautionary statement that is included in the technical manual stipulating the 20 cm separation distance. All meter forms which act as hosts to the kV2c-AMPZE module will be tested with the kV2c-AMPZE module for compliance and documented through the permissive change process.
