Barry Quinlan From: "Michael Buchholz" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 22, 2002 9:20 AM Attach: installationBeforeyouinstall.pdf; installingAntennas.pdf; ChannelPlan.PDF; QHY800002 - Form731.PDF; Discrepancy.PDF Sub ject: Re: Airvana FCC ID: QHY800002 Page 1 of 2 9/1/2002 Response to you questions below: 1. The test report specifies that the unit has a 42 watt output. The test data indicates an output of approximately 2 watts. Please explain this discrepancy. The product should be rated at 21.8W. See attached explanation. 2. Please supply a 731 Form with items 8(b), (c), and (d) filled out. Attached and hard copy delivered. 3. Please tell us what bandwidth was used for the data presented in table on page 10 of the test report. RBW=1MHz, VBW=1MHz 4. Please scribe limit lines on the plots of the emissions to document compliance with 24.238 (b) and (c). Please provide an affidavit as to which channels are the highest and lowest. The highest readings just outside of the upper and lower bandedges are indicated in tables 1 and 3. The equipment can tune to all channels in the range 25 - 1175 (see attached channel list). 5. On page 4 of the test report it states that the emissions testing was conducted at various distances however the table on page 10 only states 3 m. Please clarify. Page 4 indicates test distances used in the range 30MHz - 20GHz. The only significant data taken was in the range 1 - 20GHz which was tested at 3m as indicated. 6. Please supply a channel plan for the unit. We need to confirm that it operates in blocks and we need to know what those blocks are. The product is designed to operated on channels 25 - 1175 following the plan described on the attached document. 7. Please provide the DC voltages and currents in the final RF amplifier stage as required by 2.1033(c)(8). The power into the RF power amplifier is in the range 24Vdc - 30Vdc and should not exceed 16A. 8. Please provide the tune-up procedure as required by 2.1033(c)(9). Output level is set via software up to the value at which the report data was taken. Airvana indicates this device has no tune-up procedure but output is verified after installation via a PA offset calibration. Please let me know if you need more information on this calibration. 9. Please specify the antenna connector type. Antenna connector is a N-type male. 10. Please provide the installation manual. We will be looking for information regarding RF exposure. Attached are two sections of the installation manual that include an RF exposure warning. 11. Please supply a signed Curtis-Straus certification agreement. This document was supplied separately.
