DRAFT not for production SonicWALL TZ 190 Wireless Getting Started Guide Page 1 SonicWALL TZ 190 Wireless Getting Started Guide This Getting Started Guide contains installation procedures and configuration guidelines for deploying a SonicWALL TZ 190 Wireless appliance on your network. SonicWALL TZ 190 Wireless Wireless provides a flexible, total Internet security platform for wired and wireless users over Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWAN). This easy to configure appliance delivers the office-on-a-park-bench mobility and convenience of WWAN technology along with the powerful protection of true layered security, integrating gateway anti-virus, gateway anti-spyware, intrusion prevention and content filtering capabilities in an easy-to-use, low cost platform. This Getting Started Guide provides instructions for basic installation and configuration of the SonicWALL TZ 190 appliance using a SonicWALL approved WWAN PC card and service from a third-party wireless provider. After you complete this guide, you will have secure Internet access (WAN / WWAN) and a secure Local Area Network (LAN) / Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The SonicWALL TZ 190 appliance requires the use of a SonicWALL approved WWAN PC card along with a data account from a supported third-party wireless service provider. For an updated list of SonicWALL approved WWAN cards and service providers, visit the SonicWALL TZ 190 Wireless Wireless product page at: <http://www.sonicwall.com/products/tz190_details.html> Alert:DO NOT INSERT YOUR WWAN PC CARD INTO ANY DEVICE UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THIS GUIDE. INSERTING YOUR WWAN PC CARD INTO A DEVICE BEFORE PROPER SETUP AND PROVISIONING HAS TAKEN PLACE CAN RESULT IN CONNECTIVITY ISSUES. Note:SonicWALL makes no warrants, representations or claims that the user of this product will experience continuous broadband-like speeds. The speed of the WWAN connection will vary depending on available wireless technology (GPRS/ HSDPA/EV-DO), WWAN card, wireless service area and other factors. DRAFT not for production Page 2 Important Information Regarding WWAN Service Providers It is important to understand that not all WWAN service providers operate in the same way, nor do they all support the same feature sets. Because of this, there exists some inherent “service provider-specific” variances in service area and more importantly, in supported features. Along with feature limitations may also come certain restrictions such as bandwidth constraints and networking limitations. Before purchasing a WWAN PC card and service plan, check to make sure that the WWAN service provider offers support for the features you need. Before committing to a service contract with a WWAN service provider, it may be helpful to ask these questions: •What types of traffic are allowed over the WWAN network? •Do they offer “static” or “dynamic” IP addressing? •Are there any inbound connection limitations? •Are single or multiple hosts allowed? •Do they support VPN traffic? •What are the data transfer limits (inbound and outbound)? •What are common data transfer speeds and how much of the coverage area supports 3G or faster technology? 1.1. Test Result of RF Exposure Evaluation . Product: Ethernet Firewall/VPN/Router 10/100 MB with Wireless LAN . Test Item: RF Exposure Evaluation Data . Test site: OATSI-SD . Test Mode: Normal Operation 1.1.1. Antenna Gain The maximum Gain is 5.0 dBi. 1.1.2. EUT Operation condition Software provided by client enabled the EUT to transmit and receive data at lowest, middle and highest channel individually. 1.1.3. Output Power into Antenna & RF Exposure Evaluation Distance Modulation Standard: IEEE 802.11b Test Date: Dec. 20, 2006 Temperature: 25 Humidity: 65% Channel Channel Frequency (MHz) Output Power to Antenna (dBm) Power Density (S) (mW/cm 2 ) 01 2412 23.40 0.138 06 2437 23.11 0.129 11 2462 23.06 0.127 Modulation Standard: IEEE 802.11g Test Date: Dec. 20, 2006 Temperature: 25 Humidity: 65% Channel Channel Frequency (MHz) Output Power to Antenna (dBm) Power Density (S) (mW/cm 2 ) 01 2412 19.46 0.056 06 2437 19.47 0.056 11 2462 19.57 0.057 Modulation Standard: IEEE 802.11 Super G (108Mbps) Test Date: Dec. 20, 2006 Temperature: 25 Humidity: 65% Channel Frequency (MHz) Peak Power Output (dBm) Power Density (S) (mW/cm 2 ) 01 2412 --- --- 06 2437 20.43 0.069 11 2462 --- --- The MPE is calculated as 0.138 mW / cm 2 < limit 1 mW / cm 2 . So, RF exposure limit warning or SAR test are not required. For 2412-2462 MHz, the EUT will only be used with a separation of 20cm or greater between the antenna and nearby persons and can therefore be considered a mobile transmitter per 47CFR2.1091 (b). The RF Exposure Information page from the manual is included here for reference.
