Whether you’re browsing through your contacts list, reading SMS messages or selecting music for playback – EGO FLASH is a practical all-rounder with a razor-sharp OLED display and intuitive controls. Its handy size and sleek design make it a must-have accessory for your car. The installation of your EGO FLASH in your car requires specialized knowledge and skills. We therefore recommend that the installation be performed by a qualifi ed professional. Before installation in your car, please make sure that your mobile phone is fully compatible with EGO FLASH. If you are uncertain, please consult your dealer or a qualifi ed workshop. Our service team will also be happy to help you with any information you may require. Further information on compatibility between EGO FLASH and various mobile phones can be found on our website. 3 6 | 7 Safety notes 1. Incorrect installation – Incorrect installation may lead to damage to the units and/or your car! Specialized knowledge and skills are required for installing the system. We strongly recommend that the system be installed by a qualifi ed professional. 2. Risk of injury – Unsuitable installation locations may become a source of injury in an accident situation, or may inhibit the correct functioning of essential safety equipment. Please carefully read the notes in the „Installation“ chapter carefully! 3. Risk of injury/material damage – the removal of vehicle lining with sharp or pointed objects may lead to injuries or material damage. 4. Road safety risk – Diverted attention can lead to dangerous situations in traffi c. Even when using hands-free phone systems, your complete attention must be paid to the current traffi c conditions. It is always advisable to avoid phone calls while driving in diffi cult traffi c situations! 5. Damage to airbags – An incorrect installation location may cause damage to, or inhibit the correct function of, your airbags. Do not install the components within the deployment area of the airbags! 6. Insulation damage – Damaged insulation can lead to equipment and wiring damage. The cables and leads may not be under tension when installed. Install the cables and leads in such a way as to avoid pinching or abrasion. 7. Polarity and shorting damage – Cables connected with reversed polarity, or in such a way as to produce a short circuit, can lead to serious damage to your equipment. Before commencing installation, make sure that the car battery is disconnected. 8. Damage to essential vehicle components – Essential vehicle components or wiring can be damaged when drilling mounting holes or screwing in self-threading screws. Please make sure there is always suffi cient space behind the screw holes and drilled holes! 9. Interference with on-board electronics – Despite the extreme protection against interference, incorrect installation can lead to interference with the vehicle electronic systems. Please read the vehicle manufacturer’s notes to this effect! 10. Appropriate use – The EGO FLASH is intended exclusively for use in vehicles with Bluetooth ® mobile phones and A2DP devices. 11. Functional Description of "ego FLASH" Handsfree System The "ego FLASH" handsfree system supports communication with a Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone. Furthermore, audio devices that support the A2DP Bluetooth profile can be operated using the "ego FLASH". The handsfree system is directly connected to the audio system and the on-board vehicle power supply. The handsfree system is controlled via a wired control unit and is connected with the telephone using a Bluetooth radio communication. There are two basic options for the connection to the vehicle (illustration 1 and illustration 2). The required supply voltage (3.3 V, 8 V, 5 V) is provided in the "Power supply" section of the circuit. There are two different channels over which the external raw voltage can be supplied to the handsfree system: 1. via the direct connection to the vehicle through the 14-pin Molex Micro-Fit connector (connection design in illustration 1), or 2. via the mute box available as an option (connection design in illustration 2). Block diagram: Illustration 3 The BlackFin DSP (B) is the central controller and function unit of the electronics box. Both flash and RAM are installed in this for the implementation of the program sequence. The BlackFin implements the communication and control of the Bluetooth module (A), the AC97 audio codec and the TDA1519 audio amplifier. The DSP also contains means of communication with the control unit. The BC04 Bluetooth chip (A: see description data sheet, appendix 1) creates the interface to the telephone via Bluetooth radio communication. The AC97 audio codec (E) assists in the management of the different audio signals of the "ego FLASH" handsfree system. With the connection design without an external amplifier box, the amplification of the audio signals to the vehicle is implemented by the TDA1519 audio amplifier (F). The control unit is used to control the handsfree system and display the functions. The controller of the control unit is a STR7 microcontroller (N). This evaluates the buttons (O) and is responsible for controlling the OLED display (M). It also implements the I 2 C communication with the electronics box. The control unit is supplied with voltage, which is converted into the appropriate component voltages by the "Power supply" (P) section of the circuit, via the electronics box.

A TFT display (M) is used for the graphical representation. The display unit also contains a reset button with which the electronics box can be reset. An ISM radio control unit is used as an input unit. This is controlled by an AtTiny microcontroller (U). This receives the signals from the buttons and the rotary encoder (V) and transmits these to the electronics box (ISM receiver) (R) via an ISM chip from the Nordic company (S). In the first 10 seconds after switching the "ego LOOK" on, press the two buttons simultaneously for at least one second. If both buttons are pressed the LED is illuminated and the registration protocol is sent by the control unit to the ECU. With it the ISM receiver becomes for the code of this control unit enable.
