Extraordinarily reliable detection is made possible thanks to the intelligent digital signal processing and system linkage (Matchtec). Only unambiguous and ver- ified movement signals in the two partial systems will re- sult in an alarm signal. The detector reacts with greatest sensitivity to move- ments that are diagonal to the active zones (direc- tions shown by arrows, Fig. 1 and 2). The detector is designed to achieve optimum re- sponse coupled with the suppression of false alarms (non-detection of small animals). Nevertheless, it is recommended that the following points be observed (Fig. 11): − Do not align the zones with sources of heat and cold, or with places that are subject to strong solar radiation or reflected heat. − Direct the zones towards uniform references. Zones which are directed towards heaters (includ- ing floor heating equipment) can reduce the proba- bility of the detection of movement. − If it is impossible to avoid positioning the detector above heaters, then the detector should be posi- tioned at least 1.5m from the heaters!
