#712719 AliMed External Wireless Alarm Instructions for Applications, Use and Care External Wireless Alarm System Overview The AliMed External Wireless Alarm alerts caregivers with a sounding alarm and flashing light. When paired with the AliMed Wireless Transmitter, which connects to the alarm’s nurse call jack, this External Wireless Alarm can be placed outside the doorway of the patient’s room to sound an alarm and flash an alert light in the hallway when a patient rises from bed. Use The AliMed External Wireless Alarm is used in conjunction with AliMed’s Wireless Night Light and AliMed’s Wireless Transmitter. The AliMed Wireless Transmitter connects to any sensor alarm utilizing the ¼” nurse call jack. The External Wireless Alarm automatically sounds and flashes when the corresponding patient alarm is activated. The External Wireless Alarm can be placed up to 20 feet from the Wireless Transmitter and patient alarm. To suspend the External Wireless Alarm once activated, simply press the large reset button on the front of the device. The External Wireless Alarm must be reset within 30 seconds of being triggered, or it will re-sound its alarm and flashes. An AC adapter is included with the unit and is strongly recommended during use. Setup 1. Installing the Batteries: (Insert picture of battery compartment here) 1. Loosen the single screw at the base of the External Wireless Alarm and remove the rear cover. 2. Install three (3) alkaline AA cell batteries (not included) as shown in this photo. 3. Turn the External Wireless Alarm on and select alarm volume “High” or “Low” as desired. 4. Replace the rear cover and tighten screw. 2. Mounting (Insert Picture of wall mounting here) The External Wireless Alarm unit can be mounted in various ways depending on the environment and usage. Three modes of mounting are included in the original package: 1. Magnetic mounting to metal surfaces. 2. Wall mounting using included bracket and screws. 3. Double-sided tape for mounting the alarm to any smooth surface. Pairing with the Wireless Transmitter 1. Set Up and Pair (show 2 pictures) In order for the External Wireless Alarm to work in conjunction with a patient alarm, the AliMed Wireless Transmitter and AliMed External Wireless Alarm need to be paired. 1. To start, you must first turn the device on using the on/off switch in the battery compartment. Set the switch at Silent, Low Volume, or High Volume as desired. 2. The unit takes ~45 seconds to warm-up or “boot-up” during which time it will show a solid red indicator light. 3. When the unit is ready a solid green light will appear and flashes once every 5 seconds. 4. To pair, press and release the SYNC button on both the Wireless Transmitter and the External Wireless Alarm at the same time (see photo for locations). The indicator light on both devices will flash green 3 times to confirm successful pairing. Then the External Wireless Alarm enters "Normal" operating mode and the indicator light will flash green once every 5 seconds. 5. Each Wireless Transmitter may pair with up to 4 External Wireless alarms or Wireless Night Lights. 6. This process should take less than one minute to complete per unit. 7. The indicator light on each device will flash RED 3 times if pairing is not successful within 5 seconds after the SYNC buttons are pressed. Go back to #4 and start the pairing process again. Low Battery – When the batteries of External Wireless Alarm are low, an audible alarm will sound, and a red alert light will flash once every 5 seconds for 3 minutes. The External Wireless Alarm will resume “Normal” operation for 5 activations triggered by wireless alarm signals. During this time, the indicator light will continue to flash red once every 5 seconds when not activated. After 5 activations, the External Wireless Alarm will stop operation and the indicator light will show solid red until batteries die or new batteries are replaced. If power adapter is connected or batteries are replaced when the indicator light flashes red and the External Wireless Alarm detects power, it will resume “Normal” operation and the indicator light will resume flashing green every 5 seconds. If power adapter is connected when the indicator light is in solid red, it is necessary to switch off the External Wireless Alarm first and switch on to reset. The External Wireless Alarm will start again and takes ~45 seconds to warm-up or “boot-up”. During which time it will show a solid red indicator light. Re-do pairing with the Wireless Transmitter is not necessary as previous pairing stays in memory unless power failure lasts for a prolonged period of time. If so, go back to #4 and start the pairing process again. Limited 6 Month Warranty Manufacturer guarantees the External Wireless Alarm for 6 months from date of purchase. This warranty is in force provided there is no evidence of misuse or improper installation.
