5 GHz airMAX ® ac BaseStation with airPrism ® Active RF Filtering Technology Model: R5AC-PRISM Introduction Thank you for purchasing the Ubiquiti Networks® Rocket®5ac Prism. This Quick Start Guide is designed to guide you through installation and also includes warranty terms. Package Contents Rocket5ac PrismGPS Antenna 5 GHz airMAX ® ac BaseStation with airPrism ® Active RF Filtering Technology Model: R5AC-PRISM Gigabit PoE (24V, 0.5A) with Mounting Bracket Power Cord Quick Start Guide Installation Requirements • The GPS Antenna needs to have clear line of sight to the sky for proper GPS operation. • Shielded Category 5 (or above) cabling should be used for all wired Ethernet connections and should be grounded through the AC ground of the PoE. We recommend that you protect your networks from harmful outdoor environments and destructive ESD events with industrial‑grade, shielded Ethernet cable from Ubiquiti Networks. For more details, visit www.ubnt.com/toughcable TERMS OF USE: Ubiquiti radio devices must be professionally installed. Shielded Ethernet cable and earth grounding must be used as conditions of product warranty. TOUGHCable ™ is designed for outdoor installations. It is the customer’s responsibility to follow local country regulations, including operation within legal frequency channels, output power, and Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) requirements. Hardware Overview GPS Antenna Connector RP-SMA Antenna Connector: Chain 1 RP-SMA Antenna Connector: Chain 0 LED Panel Port Cover LED Panel Signal In airOS, you can modify the wireless signal strength threshold values for each LED on the Wireless tab under Signal LED Thresholds. The default values are shown below: LED will light blue when the wireless signal strength is above ‑65 dBm. LED will light blue when the wireless signal strength is above ‑73 dBm. LED will light blue when the wireless signal strength is above ‑80 dBm. LED will light blue when the wireless signal strength is above ‑94 dBm. GPSGPS The GPS LED will light steady blue when the GPS signal strength is sufficient. This requires a minimum of three satellite connections. LANLAN The LAN LED will light steady blue when an active Ethernet connection is made to the LAN port and flash when there is activity. Power The Power LED will light blue when the device is connected to a power source. Ports LAN Port Reset Button LAN The Gigabit Ethernet port is used to connect the power and should be connected to the LAN. Reset Button To reset to factory defaults, press and hold the Reset button for more than 10 seconds while the Rocket is already powered on. Alternatively, the Rocket may be reset remotely via a Reset button located on the bottom of the Gigabit PoE adapter. Hardware Installation The Rocket5ac Prism is designed to mount directly onto a Ubiquiti airMAX RocketDish ™ antenna for Point‑to‑Point use or an airMAX Sector antenna for Point‑to‑MultiPoint use. 1. Datasheet 2x2 MIMO BaseStation Sector Antenna Models: AM-5AC21-60, AM-5AC22-45 Advanced Noise Immunity Superior Beam Performance Enhanced Scalability of airMAX® Networks Datasheet 2 Overview As the next generation of 2x2 MIMO sector antennas from Ubiquiti Networks, the airMAX® ac Sector Antennas feature significant advances in scalability, noise isolation, and beam performance to complement the Rocket ™ 5ac radios. They are also compatible with RocketM5 models; however, optimal performance requires the Rocket5ac. Breakthrough Performance The airMAX ac Sector Antennas are highly resistant to noise interference in co-location deployments. The innovative deflector design, together with the reduced sidelobes and backlobes, reject interference from other transmitters in the area – potentially on the same tower. Improved Signal-to-Noise Ratio (S/N or SNR) allows a higher-order modulation to be used, for example, 256QAM rather than 16QAM. This increases the number of bits per second for a fixed bandwidth (or data rate). Due to innovative design, the airMAX ac Sector Antennas provide higher gain and superior beam performance for high-capacity, multipoint networks. Innovative Deflector Design The airMAX ac Sector Antennas are engineered to reject interference and provide enhanced scalability, higher gain, and superior beam performance in PtMP networks. The airMAX ac Sector Antennas provide sector-wide coverage and utilize airMAX technology to provide carrier-class performance and power. Pair the RocketM’s radio with the airMAX Sector Antenna’s reach to create a powerful basestation. This versatile combination gives network architects unparalleled flexibility and convenience. On the right is one example of how the airMAX Sector Antenna can be deployed: Utilize airMAX Technology* Unlike standard Wi-Fi protocol, Ubiquiti’s Time Division Multiple Access ( TDMA) airMAX protocol allows each client to send and receive data using pre-designated time slots scheduled by an intelligent AP controller. This “time slot” method eliminates hidden node collisions and maximizes airtime efficiency. It provides many magnitudes of performance improvements in latency, throughput, and scalability compared to all other outdoor systems in its class. Intelligent QoS P riority is given to voice/video for seamless streaming. Scalability High capacity and scalability. Long Distance C apable of high -speed, carrier-class links. * When airMAX Sector is paired with RocketM airMAX Sector Antennas provide sector-wide coverage and utilize airMAX technology to produce carrier-class performance and power. Up to 100 airMAX clients can be connected to an airMAX Sector; four airMAX clients are shown to illustrate the general concept. airMAX Sector Internet Backbone ISP Network RocketDish with RocketM RocketDish with RocketM PtMP (Point-to-MultiPoint) airMAX Links PtMP (Point to Multi-Point) Link Example PtP (Point-to-Point) Backhaul Link Residence Internet CafeSmall BusinessOutdoor Hotspot Corporate Building airMAX Sector with RocketM Time Slot 1Time Slot 2Time Slot 3Time Slot 4 Wireless Channel Time Slots Packet Prioritization VOIP Data VOIPVOIP Datasheet 3 www.ubnt.com/airmax#airMaxAntennas Models AM-9M13 (900 MHz, 13 dBi) AM-2G15-120 (2.4 GHz, 15 dBi) AM-2G16-90 (2.4 GHz, 16 dBi) AM-3G18-120 (3 GHz, 18 dBi) AM-5G16-120 (5 GHz, 16 dBi) AM-5G17-90 (5 GHz, 17 dBi) AM-5G19-120 (5 GHz, 19 dBi) AM-5G20-90 (5 GHz, 20 dBi) Datasheet 4 www.ubnt.com/airmax#airMaxAntennas Softw…
