Hardware User’s Guide Super Range Cardbus Regulatory Information FCC Statement This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful inteference in a residential installation. The equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no gurantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one of the following measures: • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help To assure continued compliance, any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment. FCC Radiation Exposure Statement This equipment complies with the FCC RF radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20 centimeters between the radiator and your body. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. The antennas used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20cm from all persons and must not be located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter CAUTION 1.) To comply with FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, a separation distance of at least 20cm must be maintained between the antenna of this device and all persons. 2.) This transmitter must not be collocated or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter Limited End User Product Warranty Pursuant to all provisions described herein, Ubiquiti Networks products are warranted for (1) year from the date of purchase against defects in the build materials and workmanship. THE SUPER RANGE 802.11a/b/g CARDBUS CARD The Super Range Cardbus (SRC) is the world’s first hi-power a/b/g cardbus card with external antenna connectors that is capable of working at both 2.4 GHz (2412-2462 Channels) and 5.8 GHz (5745-5805 Channels). The design is based on the Atheros 4 th Generation chipset and boasts superior high-data rate and receive sensitivity performance. The SRC was specifically designed to work with single board computer platforms for outdoor Access Point applications. Among the possible SBC’s available to pair the SRC with are the Mikrotik Routerboard, Soekris SBC, and PC Engines’ WRAP platform. (all shown below). For more detailed information regarding integration of the SRC with these platforms, please inquire with the host system manufacturer. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 September 21, 2005 RE: Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. FCC ID: SWX-SRC I have a few comments on this Application. Depending on your responses, kindly understand there may be additional comments. 1.) The Manual is very short and has much of the required compliance information correctly identified. However, one item that is not available to check is the channels settings available for this device. Is this WiFi product capable of 13 channels in the 2400 MHz band? If so, then how will only the permitted channels of 1-11 be available in North America? 2.) Does this device employ “passive scanning”? 3.) The labeling on this device [see External Photographs] identifies this as a 300mW transmitter. However, the Test Report and Form 731 show in excess of 600mW. Is the Form 731 and Test Report correct? 4.) Assuming the 600mW setting is correct, I have some questions about the restricted band edge test at 2483.5MHz when set to channel 11. Assuming an output power of +25dBm feeding an antenna of +5dBi gain, I would expect to see the peak radiated field strength easily in excess of +120dBuV. [+25dBm + 5dBi + 107db -11.7db] The maximum field strength seen in your test report Section 5.6 is only 112dBuV. This makes me question whether the device was properly rotated and optimized to find the peak values before measurements of peak and average emissions. If I have mis-understood the Test Report, my apologies – kindly show me where my assumptions are incorrect. An example calculation would be helpful. William H. In page 5 of manual, the specification of the wireless interface only has the permitted channels of 1-11. The EEPROM of the card is only configured to be functional in channels 1-11. 2.) By default it is passive right now. 3.) The labeling on this device is based on Ubiquiti's internal lab measurements and is not a peak value. 4.) Peak power measurements are an integrated measurement made over 20MHz signal BW. Peak radiated measurements is confined to 1MHz BW. Hence, there could be approx. 13dB power (26dB Voltage) difference you might not be accounting for. That would then satisfy your 120dBuV+ expectation. Please kindly inform me if above reply satisfies your inquiries.
