The output of Q2 has the matching network consisting of L1, L2, C1, and C2 that limit the harmonic content and effect the proper coupling of the antenna to the output stage. Antenna, Ground, and Power Source The antenna consists of a 158mm long telescoping chrome over brass tubing. There is no external ground connection. The ground is only that of the printed circuit board. Electric current is supplied by a 3 Volt primary storage cell.

The bandwidth of the spectrum analyzer was 100 kHz with an appropriate sweep speed. The analyzer was calibrated in dB above a microvolt at the output of the antenna. The resolution bandwidth was 100 kHz and the video bandwidth was always greater than the RBW. Occupied Bandwidth: A small sample of the transmitter output was fed into the spectrum analyzer and the following plot was generated. The vertical scale is set to 10 dB per division…
