American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 March 7, 2008 RE: EnOcean GmbH FCC ID: SZV-STM110C I have a few comments on this Application. 1 The Modular Approval letter states the EUT must be tested in a stand alone configuration. In that same letter it states that it was not tested in a stand alone configuration. Please explain how this in is compliance with the requirements. Response: The EUT is tested as a stand-alone device. It was our initial understanding that the EUT was tested in a stand-alone configuration when installed directly on the host, we are now of the opinion that the FCC wants standalone testing of the EUT to mean installation of the EUT on a header which in turn is installed on the host. Please see the revised modular approval letter and test report uploaded with this response. 2 The Modular Approval letter states that the EUT has no shielding. This is required by the FCC for all modular approvals. Please have your client explain. This would be another reason to be tested in stand alone configuration. We are back at retesting for each new host. Response: Please see the attestation letter from the manufacturer justifying how the shielding requirement was met. 3 The IC label must have the identifier number, model number and the manufacturer’s name. The label that was uploaded does not have the manufacturer’s name on the label or PCB. You will need to have permission from Industry Canada to put it in the user manual. Please revise label or show letter from IC. Response: Please see the revised label exhibit uploaded with this response. 4 The Operational Description exhibit is marked as confidential but is not mentioned in the confidentiality letter uploaded. Please revise the confidentiality letter to include operational description. Response: The exhibit was erroneously marked confidential. However, the confidentiality letter has been revised to include the Confidential OEM Operational Legal Agreement document submitted as an operational description exhibit with this response, and correctly marked confidential. 5 If the EUT is in manual mode and the user keeps triggering the button how dose this pass the 5 second rule of 15.231. Please explain, and if it does restrict triggering of the EUT please describe in the test report or description of EUT. This also needs to be attested to for automatic operation. These are found on page 37/40 of user manual. Response: Please see the timing plots in the revised test report. 6 It would seem there are confidential items in the user manual. You might want to let your client know that the user manual will be available to the public. See question 4. Response: The client is aware that the user manual will be available to the public. 7 You will need to test the EUT for power line conducted emissions as the host might be connected to the power grid. Please revise test report to include power line conducted emissions. Response: This data was added to the revised test report uploaded with this response. 8 Please have the client supply duty cycle plots and 5 second rule plots per 15.231 (1) (2).
