PL9164-4SW brief introduction The PL9164-4SW is a HomePlug AV 200Mbps-based Power line Ethernet bridge adapter for broadband sharing, online gaming, Voice over IP (VoIP), IPTV, audio and video streaming. It also provides a 4-port 10/100M Ethernet switch. These 4 ports share the 200Mbps power line broad band. Furthermore, 6 AC power sockets are provided. They can be used for household appliances .Each socket has noise filtering and surge protection function. The processing of power line signals is introduced briefly as below. When the PCs(totally 4) want to send out data, then the data packets are sent out by the network interface cards. PL9164 receives the packets, then forwards the out-going packets to the SM6400,the 200Mbps power line module. SM6400 modulates the data packets to 2M—29M carrier signals once it received the packets. Then the carrier signals are filtered, amplified and coupled to power lines. On the other hand, it receives the power line carrier signals, then SM6400 demodulates them, extracts the information and send them to the 10/100M Ethernet switch .At last, the Ethernet signals are sent to the destination PC network interface card.
