Introduction Repeaters are used to fill out uncovered areas in cellular mobile systems, such as base station fringe areas, road tunnels, business and industrial buildings, etc. A repeater receives signals from a base station, amplifies and retransmits the signals to mobile stations. Also it receives, amplifies and retransmits signals in the opposite direction. Both directions are served simultaneously. To be able to receive and transmit signals in both directions, the repeater is connected to a donor antenna directed towards the base station and to a service antenna directed towards the area to be covered. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 April 18, 2007 RE: Beijing Telestone Technology Co., Ltd. FCC ID: U5TTS-OR02RDBS-30 I have a few comments on this Application. Depending on your responses, kindly understand there may be additional comments. 1.) Please review your Confidentiality Request letter. Are you sure that you want the Schematics to remain within public view? 2.) Please review the Block Diagram, Are you sure you wish to refer to “Longent” on this document? 3.) The Tune Up procedure says the RF Pout is +24dBm uplink and +30dBm downlink. This is lower that that reported on your Form 731. It appears that this device was not adjusted to maximum RF output power before testing was started. 4.) The RF Exposure estimation (MPE) shows an RF power lower than either the Form 731 or the Tune Up procedure. What is the “real” RF power? 5.) FYI: In my laboratory experience, spectrum analyzers usually make terrible broadband RF power meters. May I suggest that you use a “true” RF power meter whenever you are dealing with CDMA (or wider) emissions? 6.) Please review your uplink/downlink RF power test. The outputs for this CDMA emission seem to be overdriven. For example, see the uplink output plot and compare to the uplink input plot. The emission bandwidth is much, much wider than the input. Please review your data FYI: Whenever a CDMA signal does not match the emission profile of the input, something is wrong. In most cases, you will find that excess RF drive is causing a problem. 7.) Please provide specific RF power drive levels and output levels for your uplink/downlink plots in section 3.5. Please do not use a spectrum analyzer to insure greatest accuracy. 8.) The final page of the Manual quotes the two-part 15.19(a)(3) compliance statement. This is not appropriate for a Licensed radio transmitter. 9.) You have provided for me a Class A digital device report, but you show Class B compliance language. Please revise. 10.) You should provide stronger guidance to installers in Section 4 to make sure your antennas are 30cm away from all persons, and your RF safety recommendations are observed. William H. Graff President and Director of Engineering mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button.
