R2.1 BT1200i User Guide 1 Introduction: The BT1200i OBD2 dongle is a multi- protocol decoder, providing with Bluetooth interface. iPod and iPhone with a Bluetooth can connect the device to read car information. Once your iPod, iPhone runs the OBD2 APP, it will provide the fuel system status, engine load, engine temperature, fuel pressure, intake manifold pressure, engine speed, vehicle speed, intake air temperature, air flow, throttle position, battery voltage, fault code, and other information sent to your phone via Bluetooth. More information and clear fault codes can be read by using professional diagnostic software. 2. Appearance: RESET: Clear protocol button. OBD: Communicate with car ECU, red LED. BT: Bluetooth working, blue LED. 3. Procedure: 3.1 Stop and turn off the engine. Vehicle moving not allowed to operate. 3.2 The OBD socket of vehicle was usually located under dashboard. Please find it out and plug BT1200i. 3.3 The BT1200i offers more than 25 protocols and supports hundreds of vehicle models. It is necessary to learn your vehicle's protocol successfully before it works normally. Once you plug BT1200i into OBD2 connector, it will try to communicate with car ECU. The red light starts flashing after the learning success. The blue light starts flashing and the learned protocol will be saved. The user can run into APP, Saving Fuel, to setting page, see the process of learning. When the protocol No. is stop, the device learn right protocol. 3.4 Note: the longest time of trying to connect is 300 seconds. If the learning connection is unsuccessful, please disconnect then plug it and press RESET to clear the memory to re-learn. 4. Compatible APPs and Features: The BT1200i is a OBD2 interpreter. What features you can have depended on what APPs you install on iPod touch, iPhone and iPad. There are a lot of commercial or free software are available to enable BT1200i, such as Saving Fuel, Safe Start, OBD2 Black Box. The features of the software differ from one another. User should choose his own software by his preference. For more details about the software, please consult the software vendors. The BT1200i Bluetooth ID is "ATBS OBD2". 5. Troubleshooting 6.1 When the BT1200i goes to sleep, it only can be waked up by starting generator once you start the engine. If the red light does not light , please disconnect then plug it again, and check the OBD2 connector whether is loose. 6.2 To use this device on other vehicles, you have to re-learn new protocol. Please press RESET key to clear its memory first. 6.3 The first time BT1200i learns protocol, do not start the engine (just ACC ON). If the dashboard has strange display during learning period, it will return to normal after restarting engine. 6.4 When the blue led flash 15 seconds to put out, please start engine again, and press RESET switch on your iPhone. This time the BT1200i will learn next protocol, the user can see the process on your iPhone. 7.NOTE and CAUTION: 7.1 The information of BT1200i is for reference only. Do not operate it when you are driving. 7.2 Do not directly use water or chemical to clean it. 7.3 Do not place the unit at the dusty place. It could cause malfunction. Contact your local dealer to perform servicing such as inspection, adjustment, or repair work. 7.5 The product warranty for one year. Please correctly use the product. Other damages caused by natural and man-made disasters, drops, soak water, smolder, and non-normal power supply are excluded from the warranty.
