SK Tx Module Technical Guide Connection between the SK Tx module and a host device is provided by a single 12 pin header. The pin out and operation of pins is described below. Pin 1 - DC Power Supply 3.3v to 6.0v Pin 2 - Ground Pin 3 - General Input Pin 4 - General Output Pin 5 - Not Used Pin 6 - Not Used Pin 7 - Serial Data Output (9600 bps, N81) Pin 8 - Serial Data Input (9600 bps, N81) Pin 9 - Reset (Enable High, Disable/Powerdown Low) Pin 10, Pin 11, Pin 12 - Not Connected, Not Used Module Installation The SK Tx module may be installed in a battery pow- ered host device. The SK Tx module is not permitted to be installed in any host device that connects to mains power (for example to a wall outlet). To maintain regulatory authorization to use the SK Tx module in a host device, following the installation of the SK Tx module into a host device, it is required that the included label sating βThis device includes FCC ID: V4TSKT1β be applied to an exterior non- removable surface of the host device. Do not apply to a battery door of the host device. An example of this label is provided on the next page of this guide. This guide includes technical specification of the SK Tx Module, as well as guidelines for installation of the module into a host device. Module Connections SK METER MODULE Model: SK Tx FCC ID: V4TSKT1 IC: 7822A-SKT1 Green Light Pin 1 Pin 12 FCC STATEMENT This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: * Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. * Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. * Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. * Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. Operation with non-approved equipment is likely to result in interference to radio and TV reception. The user is cautioned that changes and modifications made to the equipment without the approval of manufacturer could void the userβs authority to operate this equipment. Important Note: To comply with FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, the following antenna installation and device operating configurations must be satisfied - This device and its antenna(s) must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. Request for a modular approval Dear Application Examiner, The Leap Devices LLC module Model: SK Tx is seeking FCC authorization as a limited modular transmitter. The requirements of FCC 15.212 are met. The following requirements are fulfilled: 1. The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding The radio portion of the module is contained in its own RF shielding. See the external photos. 2. The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs There is a microprocessor on the board that collects the information from the digital data collection module and sends this stream to the RF transmitter. 3. The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation The board used in this module includes its own 3.3 volt regulator on the main processor for regulating the power to the transmitter so regulation is not a problem. 4. The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of Section 15.203 The antenna is soldered directly to the module. 5. The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration The EUT was tested in a stand-alone configuration. The controller board that it is connected to is for collection of data only. 6. The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number The EUT will be labeled with its own FCC ID number. If the module is installed inside of an end-product, the label will not be visible. In this case the OEM customer will be instructed to how to apply the exterior label. The exterior label is supplied in packaging with the module. 7. The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. This RF module does not comply with all FCC rules. This RF module is intended to be integrated in battery powered host devices only, therefore the AC conducted emission requirements of 15.207 were not performed. Please see installation limitations inside the user manual. 8. The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements in its final configuration. Instructions are given in the installation manual for compliance to the RF exposure requirements.
