Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. 2. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Fiberstars Inc. could void the user's authorit y to operate the equipment. FCC WARNING ELECTRICAL RATINGS Do not exceed the maximum electrical ratings of the WPC-1. A circuit breaker rated at 20Amps at 120VAC must be installed in the breaker panel to connect to the WPC-1 power input. Circuit 1 and Circuit 2 are each rated for use of up to 8Amps @ 120VAC. The Pump Relay is rated at a maximum of 3HP @ 240VAC. Basic safety precautions should be observed when operating the WPC-1 product and other associated equipment. 1. A qualified electrician must install the WPC-1 in accordance to the National and Local Electrical Codes. 2. The WPC-1 must not be less then 5 feet (3 meters in Canada) from inside edge of pool. ONLY USE COPPER CONDUCTORS. 3. Do not exceed the maximum ratings of individual components, wiring devices, and current carrying capacity of conductors. 4. For the bonding, grounding, installing, and wiring of underwater lights to the WPC-1, refer to Article 680 of the National Electrical Code or Article 68 of the Canadian Electrical Code. 5. This device should never operate equipment that could cause property damage, bodily injury, or death should it be activated unexpectedly. 6.NeverallowchildrentooperatetheWPC-1unsupervised. SAVETHESEINSTRUCTIONS! IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION http://www.fiberstars.com 79-15053-00 REV. C Page 4 of 16 HOT NEUTRAL T/C POWER T/C NEUTRAL Power Connections: To wire the WPC-1 use insulate d COPPER wire only, 12 gauge minimum. Run a ½” to ¾” conduit from the main breaker panel to the WPC-1. Pull appropriate wires from the main breake r panel to the WPC-1 unit. To make power connections remove 3/8 inchesof insulation from wire ends. Insert thebare end of wires under the pressure plate o f terminals (Power Input, HOT). Use 1/8- in. flat head screwdriver to tighten terminal screws firmly (4.4 lb-in minimum). Connect the house common to the Power Inputs NEUTRAL terminal. Connect another HOT wire to the Timeclocks T/C POWER terminal. Connect a house common to the Timeclocks T/C NEUTRAL. Install a 20 Amp circuit breaker in the main breake r panel and connect the HOT wiresfrom the WPC-1. LOCATION Install the WPC-1 enclosure using the mounting plates included with each enclosure. The WPC- 1 is housed in a Type 3R rainproof enclosure and can be mounted anywhere between the pool equipment and the breaker panel. WIRING INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOW PROPER WIRING PRACTICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL LOCAL REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. WARNING β€’ TURN OFF INCOMING POWER BEFORE SERVICING EQUIPMENT. β€’ ALL INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE WORK MUST BE PERFORMED BY QUALIFIED ELECTRICAL PERSONELL ONLY. β€’ VERIFY ALL ELECTRICAL RATINGS BEFORE INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE. http://www.fiberstars.com 79-15053-00 REV. C Page 5 of 16 TO NEUTRAL BAR DE GROUND HOT LINE SI T/C NEUTRAL T/C POWER HOT LOAD SIDE NEUTRAL LOAD SIDE GFCI 120VAC 20AMP ERCIRCUIT BREAK Power Connection with GFCI To wire the WPC-1 with the use of a GFCI, punch out the GFCI knockout on the side of the WPC-1 enclosure. Install an outdoor rated GFCI. Using COPPER wire only, 12 gauge minimum, connect the GFCI from the LOAD side to the HOT terminal on the POWER INPUT of the WPC-1. Connect the NEUTRAL from the LOAD side of the GFCI to the NEUTRAL terminal from the WPC-1. Connect the GROUND of the GFCI to the EQUIP. GND. bar. Wire the HOT from the GFCI’s LINE side to the 20Amp circuit breaker in the main breaker panel as discussed earlier. Connect the NEUTRAL from the GFCI’s LINE side to the house common. From the GFCI’s LINE side, connect a wire from the HOTto the Timeclocks T/C POWER terminal. From the NEUTRAL of the LINE side on the GFCI, connect to the T/C NEUTRAL on the terminal block. NOTE: Do not connect the Timecloc k Inputs to the LOAD side of the GFCI. http://www.fiberstars.com 79-15053-00 REV. C Page 6 of 16 If this product is used to connect underwater lights directly, refer to 1999 NEC 680-21(b), 2002 NEC 680-24(b) or CEC 68-060, 062 and 066 for details.
