Power Supply It is required that Traxxas LLP place the text below in the product user guide along with all other pertinent regulatory information. Note: This is a battery operated device. We are only using the module on our own motherboard, and there is sufficient filtering on the module for the supplied voltage supply. The requirements for FCC Limited Modular Approval were released in March 2009 in the FCC’s Public Notice: FCC Public Notice DA-08-672, Part 15 Unlicensed Modular Transmitter Approvals. Design Criteria for Modular Approval General Conditions: The following conditions must be strictly adhered to for modular approval: 1. No modification to the module including the circuitry is permitted. 2. Design criteria to include antenna, interconnects, and local oscillator. 3. Testing of the final device configuration for Digital Emissions Compliance The Spectrum 2.4Ghz, TX RF Daughter Board Module may not be altered or modified in any manner by the OEM or other entity. Additionally, no component may be added which could change the radio frequency (RF) characteristics. These include, but are not limited to unintentional or spurious emissions, immunity, ESD characteristics, or other items commonly associated with RF devices. This includes all components; passive and active. Additionally, no RF components may be placed between the RF output of the module and the antenna. Source-based rf power output Plots were taken of the transmitted rf with the TX key held in the on position. The following duty cycle is source-based because it is set in the firmware that resides on the rf board. The width of one pulse is 733 microseconds There are 10 rf pulses in 100 msec. Duty Cycle correction = 10 log (T on /100 msec.) T on = 10 pulses x 733 usec. T on = 7330 usec. T on = 7.33 msec. 10 log (7.33/100) = -11.3 dB Peak power(measured) = +3.57 dBm Source-based average power = +3.57 dBm – 11.30 dB Source-based average power = -7.73 dBm Source-based average power = 0.169 mW Antenna gain is 2 dBi so the source-based average eirp is 0.267 mW The MPE prediction that follows shows that the predicted rf exposure level is well below the FCC requirements.
