Regulatory Compliance Information Revision 0.0 (06/2020) Preliminary 2 1.2 WFI32E01 Usage Instructions under Modular Approval Table 1-2: Features and supported modes of operation Frequency Range Wi-Fi: 2.400 GHz ~ 2.4835 GHz (2.4 GHz ISM Band) Number of Channels Wi-Fi: 11 for North America The availability of some specific channels and/or operational frequency bands are country dependent and should be programmed at the Host product factory to match the intended destination. Regulatory bodies prohibit exposing the settings to the end user. This requirement needs to be taken care of via Host implementation. The Host product manufacturer must ensure that the RF behavior adheres to the certification (e.g. FCC, ISED) requirements when the module is installed in the final Host product. 1.3 WFI32E01 Usage Instructions under Modular Approval Host Board Top Layer Instructions: The top layer (underneath the module) of the host PCB must be ground with as many GND vias as possible. Regulatory Compliance Information Revision 0.0 (06/2020) Preliminary 3 2.1 United States The WFI32E01 modules have received Federal Communications Commission (FCC) CFR47 Telecommunications, Part 15 Subpart C “Intentional Radiators” single-modular approval in accordance with Part 15.212 Modular Transmitter approval. Single modular transmitter approval is defined as a complete RF transmission sub-assembly, designed to be incorporated into another device, that must demonstrate compliance with FCC rules and policies independent of any host. A transmitter with a modular grant can be installed in different end-use products (referred to as a host, host product, or host device) by the grantee or other equipment manufacturer, then the host product may not require additional testing or equipment authorization for the transmitter function provided by that specific module or limited module device. The user must comply with all of the instructions provided by the Grantee, which indicate installation and/or operating conditions necessary for compliance. A host product itself is required to comply with all other applicable FCC equipment authorization regulations, requirements, and equipment functions that are not associated with the transmitter module portion. For example, compliance must be demonstrated: to regulations for other transmitter components within a host product; to requirements for unintentional radiators (Part 15 Subpart B), such as digital devices, computer peripherals, radio receivers, etc.; and to additional authorization requirements for the non-transmitter functions on the transmitter module (i.e., SDoC or Certification) as appropriate (e.g., Bluetooth and Wi-Fi transmitter modules may also contain digital logic functions). 2.1.1 Labeling and User Information Requirements The WFI32E01 module has been labeled with its own FCC ID number. If the FCC ID is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the finished product into which the module is installed must display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label can use wording as follows: For the WFI32E01PE, WFI32E01UE, WFI32E01PC, WFI32E01UC: Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: 2ADHKWFI32E01 or Contains FCC ID: 2ADHKWFI32E01 This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. A user's manual for the finished product should include the following statement: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy, and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off …

Applicant/Grantee Microchip Technology Inc. FCC ID: 2ADHKWFI32E01 Section 15.212 Modular Transmitters / X Request for Modular Approval Request for Limited Modular Approval Requirements Device Conditions Comply (Y/N) Single Modular Approval Requirements 1 The radio elements must have the radio frequency circuitry must be shielded. Physical/discrete and tuning capacitors may be located external to the shield, but must be on the module assembly. The module has its own RF shielding. Shield Can is employed on the board structure, please see exhibition External Photo, the emission measurement was conducted without further shielding added. Y 2 The module shall have buffered modulation/data input(s) (if such inputs are provided) to ensure that the module will comply with the requirements set out in the applicable RSS standard under conditions of excessive data rates or over-modulation. All modulation and data input(s) are Buffered on the EUT. These are integrated on the RF chip Y 3 The module shall have its own power supply regulation on the module. This is to ensure that the module will comply with the requirements set out in the applicable standard regardless of the design of the power supplying circuitry in the host device which houses the module. Requirements set out in the applicable standard regardless of the design of the power supplying circuitry in the host device which houses the module. RF System on Chip IC contains multiple dedicated voltage regulators for transmitter chain including modulator, pre-power amplifier. Output power is controlled by the RF Chip and de-coupled from supply voltage variations. Y 4 The module shall comply with the provisions for external power amplifiers and antennas detailed in this standard. The Equipment certification submission shall contain a detailed description of the configuration of all antennas that will be used with the module. Module Variants have below antenna approaches: #1 The Antenna is part of the module #2 Include different antenna assy. in the list, it is connected by an u.FL connector based cable to EUT. Y 5 The module shall be tested for compliance with the applicable standard in a stand- alone configuration, i.e. the module must not be inside another device during testing. The modular transmitter was tested in a stand-alone configuration. See Setup Photos. Y 6 The module shall comply with the Category I equipment labelling requirements. In the exhibition OEM manual, there are Instructions given to the OEM on how to label the end product. See Label Exhibit. Y 7 The modular transmitter complies with all specific rules or operating requirements that ordinarily apply to a complete transmitter and the manufacturer will provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. A copy of these instructions is included in this application for equipment authorization: Instructions in User Manual Y 8a Address compliance with the Commission's RF exposure limits in Sections 1.1310 and 2.1093. In addition, spread spectrum transmitters operating under Section 15.247 are required to address RF exposure compliance in accordance with Section 15.247(b)(4). Please refer the Maximum Permissible Exposure Information. Y A limited modular approval may be granted for single or split modular transmitters that do not comply with all of the above requirements, e.g., shielding, minimum signaling amplitude, buffered modulation/data inputs, or power supply regulation, if the manufacturer can demonstrate by alternative means in the application for equipment authorization that the modular transmitter meets all the applicable Part 15 requirements under the operating conditions in which the transmitter will be used. Limited modular approval also may be granted in those instances where compliance with RF exposure rules is demonstrated only for particular product configurations. The applicant for certification must state how control of the end product into which the module will be installed will be maintained such that full compliance of the end product is always ensured.
