SAFE USAGE NOTIFIATION: For reasons of personal safety and optimal radio performance, Motorola has designed the ML850 with an intended purpose and position of use either in a secured vehicle docking station or on the to of an office desk. Motorola strongly recommends using this product in a vehicle only when it is physically-secured in a locked or assured-stationary location as failure to do so may cause the product to cause harm in accidents or other conditions. Similarly, Motorola strongly recommends that the unit not be situated for a prolonged period in an position that places the antennas directly against the human body (for example, by ‘tucking’ an operational, radio-equipped unit under one’s arm). NOTE: The radio modems in the ML850 may continue to transmit and receive signals even while the laptop is in a closed position. Failure to follow any part of this notification could cause degraded radio performance or harm to the user. About the Battery Caution Texts Concerning Lithium Batteries DANISH ADVARSEL! PCTEST MPE REPORT FCC CERTIFICATION REPORT REVIEWED BY: QUALITY MANAGER TEST REPORT S/N: 0501310047 TEST DATES: Feb. 28, 2005 EUT TYPE: Notebook PC w/ OEM Radio Module, WLAN FCC ID: ABZ89FT7614 PAGE 1 OF 2 © 2005 PCTEST Engineering Laboratory, Inc. RF Exposure Evaluation - Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) 1. Introduction This document attempts to prove the safety of radiation generated by RF devices to the human body. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE), specified in FCC 1.1210, is listed below. The power generated by this product is measured by a power meter. Through use of the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, the distance from the product at which compliance with the MPE limit is achieved may be calculated. Alternatively, near field measurements may be performed to demonstrate compliance at a specific measurement distance. Near field probe: Wandel & Goltermann EMR-20. 2. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: the criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b). LIMITS FOR MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (Minutes) (A) Limits For Occupational / Control Exposures 30-300 61.4 .163 1.0 6 300-1500 ... ...
