(Motorola") warrants its Motorola manufactured smartcard reader or terminal (Prod uct") to the original purchaser (Buyer") as stated herein, except to the extent the terms herein may be modified by a written SmartCard Systems Agreement between Motorola and Buyer. Smartcards are not covered by this warranty. Motorola warrants the Product against material defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of One (1) Year from the date of Product shipment. Motorola, at its option, will at no charge either repair the Product (with new or reconditioned parts), replace it with the same or equivalent product (using new or recondi tioned parts), or refund the purchase price of the Product during the warranty period provided Buyer notifies Moto rola within the warranty period in accordance with the terms of this warranty. Repaired or replaced product is war ranted for the balance of the original applicable warranty period. All replaced parts of the Product shall become the property of Motorola. Warranty Exclusions: This warranty does NOT cover: 1. Defects, damage or malfunctions of the Product resulting from: (a) Use of the Product in other than its normal and customary manner. (b) Misuse, accident, neglect, environmental or site conditions not conforming to the Product specifications. (c) Alteration, modification, adjustment, repair or testing of the Product not approved by Motorola. (d) Equipment not approved by Motorola for use with the Product. (e) Excessive power conducted or radiated from equipment not approved by Motorola for use with the Prod uct. 2. Product which has had the serial number removed or made illegible. 3. Normal and customary wear and tear. 4. Fraud, theft or loss resulting from unauthorized use of the Product. 5. Loss of value or data stored in the Product or in other equipment used with the Product. 6. Disclosure of personal or confidential information or data stored in or accessed by the Product. 7. Loss or damage from Product or system downtime. 8. Scratches or other cosmetic damage to Product surfaces that does not affect the operation of the Product. 9. That the software in the Product will meet the purchaser's requirements or that the operation of the software will be uninterrupted or error-free. General Provisions: This express warranty is extended by Motorola to the original Buyer purchasing the Product, and is not assignable or transferable to any other party. This is the complete warranty for the Product. Motorola assumes no obligations or liability for additions or modifications to this warranty unless made in writing and signed by an officer of Motorola. Unless made in a separate written agreement(s) between Motorola and Buyer, Motorola does not warrant the maintenance or service of the Products other than stated herein. Motorola cannot be responsible in any way for any ancillary equipment not furnished by Motorola which is attached to or used in connection with the Product, or for operation of the Product with any ancillary equipment, and all such equipment is expressly excluded from this warranty. Because each system which may use the Product is unique, Motorola disclaims liability for read range, transaction time, or operation of the system as a whole under this warran ty other than stated above. This warranty sets forth the full extent of Motorola's responsibilities regarding the Product. Replacement or refund of the purchase price, at Motorola's option, is the exclusive remedy. THIS WARRANTY IS GIVEN IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTIES. MOTOROLA DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS, EX PRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The Card Acceptance Device (CAD+) is manufactured by Motorola WSSD located at 1301 East Algonquin Road, Schaumburg, IL 60196. This application is being submitted to CCL under the FCC Public Notice, DA 00-1223, allowing Telecommunication Certification Bodies (TCB) to certify specific equipment including Unlicensed Radio Frequency Devices under Scope A1. This application is submitted in accordance with FCC Public Notice, DA 00-1407, for Part 15 Unlicensed Modular Transmitter Approval. This Low Power transceiver module complies with the requirements specified in DA 00-1407 as described below: 1) Inherent RF Shielding - The CAD+ has board mount RF shields to minimize emissions for compliance to FCC Part 15, Subpart C requirements. 2) Buffered modulation/data inputs - Both Serial and Parallel data interfaces include RC filtering as illustrated on pages 4 and 6 of the schematics contained in Exhibit 5. 3) Power Supply Regulation - The CAD+ module contains on board regulators and filtering circuitry to generate the various voltages required by the CAD+ circuitry. A +12VDC from the terminal (via connector P8) is used as the source to generate the +5V, +5V_A, and PA_PWR voltages. 4) Antenna Requirements per Section 15.203 - The module uses a unique 6 wire, 100 mm, interconnect cable/connector for each of the four (4) antenna configurations. Additionally, the final integration of the module will make this antenna interface inaccessible to the final user. 5) Tested in Stand-Alone Configuration - The CAD+ module was tested as a stand- alone device and was compliant with FCC Part 15, Subpart C, requirements as detailed in the Test Report contained in this application as Exhibit 6. The module is intended to be powered from a +12 VDC source provided by the host terminal. The users manual describes the necessary conditions for final integration when AC power is utilized by the host terminal. 6) FCC ID Label - Exhibit 1 contains the labelling requirements of the module and the users manual, Exhibit 8, contains instructions for carrying the FCC ID to the exterior of the final product. T6480A (and variants) 11.0 RF Exposure Information The Card Acceptance Device (CAD+) complies with human radiation emission requirements. These requirements are based on the Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) levels of ANSI/IEEE C95.1-1992 and 47 CFR 1.1310, Table 1 for an uncontrolled environment. This low power modular transmitter is intended to be integrated into subsystem that would normally be used in a fixed location. This module, dependent on its integration, could arguably fit the definition of a portable device as defined in 47 CFR 2.1093(b) (i.e. "designed to be used so that the radiating structure of the device is within 20 cm of the body of the user", specifically the hand). However, it does not fit any of the equipment classification criteria for portable devices requiring SAR testing as defined in 47 CFR 2.1093(c). Exhibit 6 Page 2 of 30 FCC ID: ABZMCAD200 Revision Basic 9/13/ 00 6.0 Introduction 6.0.1 Product Description The Motorola CAD+ module is a low power radio frequency transceiver designed for applications such as identification systems, security systems, Access Control, and data collection. The subassembl y consists of two printed circuit boards and referred to as the Card Acceptance Device (CAD+). The control board contains the microprocessor, non-volatile memor y, and radio frequenc y transmitting and receiving circuitry. The board communicates with the smart cards via an RF link. The antenna board is a pcb with copper traces for ming the transmit and receive antennas. There are four different ant enna configurations. The 104 x 67 mm antenna board is attached to a ferrite plate and a metal back plate which serves as a ground plane. The 50 x 25 mm antenna board also utilizes a ferrite but has no back plate. The other two antenna boards are different sizes with no ferrite or back plate and include a 65 x 45mm PCB and a 100 x 110mm PCB. When the tr ans ceiver module is powered, a low-power rad io frequency (RF) field is continuously transmitted by the CAD+ at 13.56 MHz. When a Smartcard is presented within the CAD+ RF field, the microchip embedded in the card, is activated and trans mits a unique Identification (ID) number back to the reader at a frequency of 847.5 kHz. The reade r validates the identification nu mbe r, and, if it is valid, converts it to a predefined da ta format and sends it to the control panel through a data cable. The control panel determines the acti on to be tak en (e.g. open a door, update database, etc.). Product Specifications: Operating Frequency - 13.56 MHz + 0.01% Modulation Type - 8-14% ASK Effective Radiated Power- < 7.2 mW (+8.57 dBm) The reader outputs data in RS-485, RS-232, CMOS, and Byte -Wid e Parallel Transfer data formats making it easy to upgrade an existing site to proximity using the wiring already in place. There are a total of seven (7) variations of the CAD+ module and are listed below. The variations include the antenna configuration and Interface protocol/connector type. The only significant variation which could impact the FCC transmitter RF characteristics is the antenna configuration and, thus, the module was tested using all four (4) of t hese antenna types. M/D H2550 Scottsdale, AZ 85252 The facility has been found to be in compliance with the requirements of Section 2.948 of the FCC rules, per FCC letter 31040/SIT, 1300F2, dated October 6, 1998. The facility has also been issued a Certificate of Accreditation through the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) by NIST. This is under NVLAP Code: 100405-0 and is effective through September 30, 2001. 6.0.3 Quality System The EMI/TEMPEST Test Laboratory maintains a Quality Manual that describes the quality assurance program of the EMC/TEMPEST Facility to set forth procedures covering all quality assurance functions.
