This product complies with the following radio frequency standards. USA β Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Statement This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense. IBM is not responsible for any radio or television interference caused by unauthorized changes or modifications to this equipment. Unauthorized changes or modifications could void the userβs authority to operate the equipment. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Exposure to Radio Frequency Energy The radiated output power of the Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Card authorized for use in the IBM 7054 Mobile Tablet for Retail is far below the FCC radio frequency exposure limits. Nevertheless, the IBM 7054 Mobile Tablet for Retail shall be used in such a manner that the potential for human contact during normal operations is minimized. Interference Statement An improper installation or unauthorized use may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Also, any tampering with the internal antenna will void the FCC certification and your warranty.

Operational and Technical Description General Description The IBM 7054 Mobile Tablet for Retail is a wireless web enabled portable tablet designed for the retail store environment. Internal to the product is a mini-PCI wireless LAN interface card, the Foxconn 802.11 b/g using the Atheros AR5213/AR2112 chipset, PN: T60H786-U. The wireless LAN radio operates between 2412 and 2462 MHz. The module complies with the following transmission modes: - IEEE802.11b (2.4 GHz band DSSS) - IEEE802.11g (2.4 GHz band OFDM) Integral to the wireless tablet and co-located is a scanner docking station with a Bluetooth 1.1 surface mountable module by USI, UB1-1112. The scanner is a battery operated handheld device that receives its battery charge through the docking station. It communicates back to the docking station using a Mitsumi Bluetooth 1.1 surface mountable module, WML-C19AHN. Mechanical Description The wireless LAN card and antenna is permanently mounted inside of the webpad device. The card and antenna is an integral design and thus is not accessible to the user. The antenna is a diversity antenna mounted in the cover of the webpad. Both Bluetooth modules have integrated antennas.

SAR DEFINITION Specific absorption rate (SAR) is the biological relevant parameter describing the effects of electromagnetic fields in the frequency range of interest. It is a measure of the power absorbed per unit mass and may be spatially averaged over the total mass of an exposed body or its parts. In mathematical terms Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is defined as the time derivative (rate) of the incremental energy absorbed by (dissipated in) an incremenβ¦
