Operational and Technical Description General Description The IBM 7054 Mobile Tablet for Retail is a wireless web enabled portable tablet designed for the retail store environment. Internal to the product is a mini-PCI wireless LAN interface card, the Foxconn 802.11 b/g using the Atheros AR5213/AR2112 chipset, PN: T60H786-U. The wireless LAN radio operates between 2412 and 2462 MHz. The module complies with the following transmission modes: - IEEE802.11b (2.4 GHz band DSSS) - IEEE802.11g (2.4 GHz band OFDM) Integral to the wireless tablet and co-located is a scanner docking station with a Bluetooth 1.1 surface mountable module by USI, UB1-1112. The scanner is a battery operated handheld device that receives its battery charge through the docking station. It communicates back to the docking station using a Mitsumi Bluetooth 1.1 surface mountable module, WML-C19AHN. Mechanical Description The wireless LAN card and antenna is permanently mounted inside of the webpad device. The card and antenna is an integral design and thus is not accessible to the user. The antenna is a diversity antenna mounted in the cover of the webpad. Both Bluetooth modules have integrated antennas.
