The output of the loop is a 16.8 MHz sine wave signal which is fed to the DSP ASIC, which divides the signal by 8 and outputs a 2.1 MHz sine wave signal. The 2.1 MHz sine wave is then split and output to both the Exciter Module and the Receiver Module as 2.1 MHz REF. The carrier is generated by the PLL and VCO loop in the Exciter Module using the 2.1 MHz REF from the Control Module. During normal station operation, the Station Reference Circuitry control voltage is turned off (via control voltage enable switch) and the high-stability VCO operates in an open loop mode. Stability of the VCO is ±1 PPM. Periodically, a calibrated external frequency counter and the Radio Service Software may be used to fine-tune the VCO. This procedure is covered in the user's manual. This device, an “instantaneous deviation control” (I.D.C.) software algorithm, precedes the frequency modulator of the transmitter. The I.D.C. software algorithm instantaneously controls the modulating waveform applied to the modulator. Audio signals from the station receiver or from a remote control console (coming to the station via a telephone wireline pair) are applied to the DSP transmit audio software. The software algorithm acts as a symmetrical clipper which clips positive and negative peaks over a predetermined value. It is preceded by audio summing software which causes any audio signal selected for transmission to be routed through the deviation limiting software. The output of the deviation limiting software is adjustable to produce the maximum channel deviation. The adjusted signal from the deviation limiting software is applied to the splatter filter which reduces the higher frequency content of this signal as is required. The splatter filter is another software algorithm whose output is sent to the modulator as shown below. The Directional Coupler generates a DC voltage proportional to the PA Module output power. This voltage is fed to the TX Power Control Circuitry in the Exciter Module. The Forward Voltage is then compared to calibrated reference voltages and a DC power control voltage is generated. Motorola, Inc.FCC ID: AZ492FT4843 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES AND TEST EQ UIPMENT USED Pursuant to 47CFR 2.947 7A RF Power Out – Pursuant to 47 CFR 2.1046(a) Method of Measurement: Per TIA/EIA-603-1 2.2.1 Before measuring the RF output power, the transmitter is adjusted in accordance with the tune-up procedure outlined in Exhibit 10 to give the value of voltage and current as specified in Exhibit 6. The transmitter antenna port is then connected through an RF attenuator of the proper power rating to an HP 8901B Modulation Analyzer. 7BOccupied Bandwidth – Pursuant to 47 CFR 2.1049(b) Method of Measurement: Per TIA/EIA-603-1 2.2.11, TIA-EIA-102.CAAB 3.2.5 Data on occupied bandwidth is show n in the form of a spectrum analyzer display, clearly illustrating the transmitter sidebands. For analog signals, the reference line is the peak of the unmodulated carrier, over which is superimposed the sideband display generated by modulating the carrier with a 2500 Hz tone at a level 16 dB greater than that required to produce 50 percent of rated modulation. For digital voice and data, the reference line is also that of the peak value of the unmodulated carrier, the modulation is a continuously repeating 511 bit pseudo random bit sequence based on the Standard Transmitter Test Pattern from the TIA/EIA IS-102.CAAA. If tone or digital coded squelch is indicated, both the 2500 Hz tone and the indicated squelch signal are used to modulate the transmitter. During these tests, the maximum deviation is set for ±5 kHz for 25 kHz channelization and ±2.5 kHz for 12.5 kHz channelization. The limits used for the masks are those set forth in 90.210. Mask B for analog transmission: At least 25 dB down on any frequency removed from the assigned frequency by more than 50% up to 100% of the authorized bandwidth. At least 35 dB down on any frequency removed from the assigned frequency by more than 100% but not more than 250% of the authorized bandwidth.
