GENERAL OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION – ION-M19P The ION-M19P is an in-building optical wireless distribution system. The system consists of a host unit and a remote unit. The host unit connects directly to a BTS via coaxial cable and converts the rf from the BTS transmit port to optical and sends it to the remote unit via fiber optic cable. The remote unit converts the optical signal back to rf and sends the rf to a donor antenna. The mobile signals are received by the remote unit, converted to optical signals and sent via fiber optic to the main unit where the signals are converted back to rf and coupled to the BTS receive port via coaxial cable. The ION-M19P operates in the PCS 1900 MHz band only. A future extension unit will allow transmission in the 2110 – 2155 MHz unit. This extension unit is a separate enclosure and will require a separate FCC approval when available.
ION-M19P Tuning Procedure There is no provision for tuning of the ION-M19P. Installation instructions are provided but no tuning is necessary for installation or maintenance.
