Appendix A : Installation Checklist:MR703D Users Guide Manual 149678 (m0041a3a, 5\00)Page A-1 Appendix A : Installation Checklist The following checklist provides a summary of the procedures for installing a MR703D system: StepIte m/ Actio nDescription ♦ 1 MR703D Site Drawing Master copy of the site plan noting the MR703D location and serial number, and the location of the indoor coverage antenna(s)). This should characterize the design parameters for the system including cable paths and lengths. 2 Equipme nt List:Quantity: MR703D  AC Power Outlet Coverage Antenna* Donor Antenna 50-ohm Donor Antenna Cable 50-ohm Donor Jumper* 50-ohm Coverage Antenna Cable 3 Installation tools: Cable connector Tools* Crimper, knife, etc. Multimeter To ensure no cable shorts. Handset with Power Indicator To verify coverage after commissioning. 4 Run Cable Install Cable in the site. 5 Attach Connectors* Measure across center pin and outer shell (ground) to ensure no short. 6 Verify “Donor and CoverageAntennas ” locations are consista nt w ith R F e xpos ure warni ng (see above and below). Be sure to record the antennas location status for future reference. 7 Record Serial Numbers and Locations on site Drawing. Note: this is to aid the Mikom Technical Support Specialists, should you need their assistance. 8 Mount the Equipment Including indoor coverage antennas for metal case models. 9 Connect the 50-ohm Cables as shown on the Site Plan Use caution when connecting semi-flexible cables to the mounted MR703D and antennas. Excessive force on antenna or MR703D connectors will result in serious equipment damage. 10 Supply AC Power, and commission the System. Check the MR703D status as described in previous section . 11 Check Power Levels Check power indication of handheld mobile at various locations within the coverage area. * As Required WA RN ING! While this device is in operation, a separation distance of at least 20 centimeters must be maintained between radiating antennas and the body of the user or nearby persons in order to meet the FCC RF exposure guidelines. The operational / functional description of this unit is for a Repeater. However, the test data shows operation as a Bi-Directional amplifier. Please clarify this issue. Allen Telecom Response: This device does contian an IF path but is sometimes refer to as both a repeater (since it has an IF)and Bi-directional amplifier due to the low power. 2.) Please clarify the issue of different gain versions (Models A, B & D) referenced in the users guide. Which version are you applying for? Allen Telecom Response: Only the “D Model” version of the MR703 External Antenna only. 3.) Because of the mixer, frequency stability data for variations in temperature and primary supply voltage should be submitted. Allen Telecom Response: As with all of our other repeater products, both Up and down converter mixers have a common Local Oscillator which negates any temperature or voltage drifts since both conversion processes would cancel out any effect on frequency stability. 4.) Please provide details for any antenna supplied with this unit and corresponding installation guidelines. Allen Telecom Response: It is up the Carrier to determine the antenna selection since each application of the device will be unique. However, we are adding the following to the manual as suggestive guidelines for installation and a warning label for RF exposure guidelines. This was suggested by the FCC in past on a similar product used at Cellular frequencies. The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information within 60 days of the original e-mail date may result in application dismissal pursuant to Section 2.917 (c) and forfeiture of the filing fee pursuant to section 1.1108. Filing is requesting for 1.0 W output for uplink (1850-1910 MHZ) and 500 mW for downlink (1930-1990 MHZ). The measured outputs, assuming conducted since no antenna info has been included, are around 18 dBm max. for uplink and 10 dBm max. for downlink. The discrepancies need clarification. Allen Telecom Response: The test data supplies both peak and average measurements. Some modulations are higher than others, an update to maximum power can be supplied consistant with the test data. 2. Please address RF exposure requirements of 2.1091 and indicate if this transmitter is categorically excluded from routine MPE evaluation. Antenna installation instructions and requirements should be included in manuals for users and installers to satisfy RF exposure requirements. The instructions and statements in the manual should indicate the antenna installation requirements (20 cm or more from persons) are for FCC RF exposure requirements. Info, on antenna type, maximum antenna gain, cable loss etc. are needed to determine if this transmitter would qualify for categorical exclusion requirements of 2.1091. Please see 2.1091 of FCC rules and review relevant sections of OET bulletin 65 (available on FCC Internet website) to determine minimum separation distances for antenna installation requirements. The output on the grant must be supported by test results. Please submit additional output test data or the existing measured output will be used (about 18 dBm for uplink and 10 dBm for downlink) Allen Telecom Response: Please use existing measured data for the grant. 2. In order for this device to qualify for categorical exclusion requirements of 2.1091, specific installation requirements must be followed. The maximum ERP must not exceed 3 W (about 4.9 W EIRP), which is dependent on antenna gain and cable loss etc. Please include the specific device operation and antenna installation requirements in the manual for users and installers to comply with RF exposure requirements. It should not be up to the carriers, the grantee is responsible for the device in this filing. Allen Telecom Response: With the measured output stated above this device does not exceed the ERP of 3W. A typical installation example will be given in the manual with a guidelines on a check list to. A warning statement will also be clearly shown to make the users and installers aware of the RF exposure requirements. Please see attached Users manual update. 3. The proposed RF exposure statement needs revision. The antennas for this device should be installed to provide a minimum separation distance of 20 cm from all persons. It should not be the burden of users and bystanders to maintain this distance. Bystanders may never know the separation distance requirements. Please revise statement accordingly. Allen Telecom Response: The RF exposure statement will be updated per above and a label will be attached to every unit. The label will state the following: WARNING INSTALLERS! This device must be installed so that while this device is in operation, a separation distance of at least 20 centimeters (cm) must be maintained between radiating antennas and the body of all nearby persons in order to meet the FCC RF exposure guidelines. 4.
